That’s 100% goaltending on uk in that picture

bass is right about needing to contact the ball through the net

NCAA rulebook

quote:

a. Touches the ball or any part of the basket while the ball is on or within the basket;

b. Touches the ball while any part of it is within the cylinder that has the ring as its lower base;

c. Reaches through the basket from below and touches the ball before it enters the cylinder;

or d. Pulls down a movable ring so that it contacts the ball before the ring returns to its original position.

see c

also, b: "any part"

If you believe that you didn't pass reading comprehension. Maybe have someone read the rule to you and explain it thoroughly since you clearly don't understand

That has nothing to do with BASKET INTERFERENCE. The “possibility of going in” judgement only applies to GOALTENDING, which can only be committed by a defensive player.

Incorrect. Read what you posted

In basketball, basket interference is the violation of (a) touching the ball or any part of the basket while the ball is on the rim of the basket, (b) touching the ball when it is within the cylinder extending upwards from the rim, (c) reaching up through the basket from below and touching the ball, whether it is inside or outside the cylinder, or (d) pulling down on the rim of the basket so that it contacts the ball before returning to its original position.[1][2] How the ball gets into the cylinder or onto the basket is irrelevant under high school and NCAA rules; e.g., a throw-in touched within the cylinder is basket interference, even though such a play could not score a goal.[3] This similar play under NBA rules would not be basket interference.[4]

This is where we disagree, I guess. Because I saw a ball that was not “within the cylinder”.

I’ll be the first to agree that they should clarify what that exactly means. If it’s half way over the rim, is that really “within the cylinder”?

Ball has to be on the rim to reach through. Don’t have to touch it, but ball in flight doesn’t count. Assuming you’re referring to the UK player.

Could a Kentucky player have swatted it away at the same point the LSU player tipped it in?

I just went through all of the rule changes since

2011-2012 rule changes

2013 rule changes

2014 rule changes

2015-2017 rule changes

2017-2018 rule changes

2018-2019 rule changes

nowhere in there is there a change to offensive interference
