What is it in Lanes personality that wants everybody to hate him on the way out?

He had 6 great seasons at Ole Miss. Had he left gracefully instead of acting like a child Ole Miss fans would have loved him forever. Even going to LSU.
He was urged by Ole Miss officials not to burn it down on his way out and leave the right way.
Obviously he didn’t.
All he had to do was say “Ole Miss has been wonderful for me in a lot of ways, and I hate to leave right now, but I can’t pass up the opportunity I have at LSU”
It’s not that hard.

He’s autistic.
But he’s our autistic lunatic now. So we back his play.

Something is off, for sure. He just doesn’t seem to have the social wherewithal to understand when it’s best to just not say anything or to just be respectful. He burns bridges pointlessly.
What he said isn’t actually specifically insulting to folks at OM currently, but a well-adjusted adult wouldn’t say it because there’s no reason to say something like that when you know it’s a hot button issue that will be stripped of context by the media.

This is all fairytales you baws made up, to feel justified in acting like whiny little bitches for the last several months. Lane got a better job, but still wanted to coach his team in the playoffs. Your also whiny bitch of an ad tried to use that as leverage to sign an extension that Lane didn’t want. LSU was willing to wait for Lane, and allow him to coach his team, but your AD said no. So Lane said frick it, and took the staff that he wanted to keep with him to LSU. Now, for some reason, he and LSU were gracious enough to allow the offensive staff to go coach your team. That should have been enough of a gesture to stop your whiny arse team and fans to stop bitching and moaning, but no. Then you start throwing around accusations of spying and tampering, while Lane’s coaches are trying to help you win playoff games!!! No, it’s not Lane’s fault. It’s you whiny little school girls that can’t let go of your first love.

You truly believe this bullshite
The simple fact is, Ole Miss was extremely butthurt they were being left for their Big Brother so they refused to let Kiffin coach the team he built in the playoffs, unlike Tulane did with Sumrall.
The holier than thou shtick from Ole Miss fans will never get old.

Correct. LSU fans are going to defend their guy.
But objectively speaking, he is an antagonist. Internally and externally.
Lane reminds me of Jim Harbaugh in that way. There is a shelf life for goodwill that wears out over time.

Nobody likes Lane's attitude until he's their coach; then they love it.
It's honestly no more complicated than that, and he gets away with it so long as he's successful.
When Ed Orgeron won a national title at LSU, their fans loved his odd mannerisms and form of speech; when he kept losing after that season, it quickly became old and he just looked like a buffon.
Every school does it; opposing fans kept calling Nick Saban a humorless bore, but Alabama fans loved him. Now, being "boring" isn't nearly as bad as looking like an idiot, but the point still stands.

This is complete bullshite. It had been going on 2 weeks where Lane had a contract extension on his desk before the Egg bowl. It was made clear to him that if he was not signing that extension that he would not coach the team in the post season. He threw a hissy fit because he didn't get his way. He waited to see if we were going to make the SEC Championship game because he thought AD Keith Carter would be in a bind and let him coach it. Once it was clear that wasn't going to happen he was asked to leave the building. In a hissy fit he told his coaches to get on the plane or they wouldn't have a job with him next year. An extremely shitty and petty thing to do.
So yes Ole Miss fans are pissed because he tried to burn it down on his way out because he didn't get his way. That is who he is and what he does. He is a huge Narcassist and a piece of shite who happens to be autistic and good and calling football plays.

Pretty accurate, IMO.
It's like when the Alabama mod,TideSaint, actually said "frick Nick Saban" all because he lost to Brian Kelly.
Everyone is happy when they're winning.

Well, to be fair, it did keep Saban from being a perfect 6-0 vs Kelly, so...
