What If.............Saban hadn't retired?

How would the 24 and 25 seasons went for the Tide?
24- The Vandy, Oklahoma and Michigan losses would not have happened. Tennessee could have still been a loss. I'll go with 11-1 and a SEC Championship Game appearance. Win that and get a first round bye, lose and host a playoff game.
25- The FSU loss would not have happened. Saban teams destroyed their first opponent of the year. The OU loss might have still happened. I'll go with 11-1 and a SEC Championship Game appearance. Win that and get a first round bye, lose and host a playoff game.
Alabama would erase four of the worst losses in the last 25 years and have another playoff appearance and SEC Championship Game appearance. Who knows what happens in the playoffs.
Side note, Alabama would be opening against at West Virginia this year instead of ECU. Caleb Downs would have been a 1st round pick for Alabama. Alabama would have Ohio State's started QB as the starter this year.

Nick Saban losing to Brian Kelly with a returning Heisman winner at QB and the eventual #1 and #3 NFL draft picks was way more embarrassing than any of those losses.
Just ask SideTaint…

Would have been 8-4 last year and would have retired in a situation that was less lucrative off the field.
That, and every new year risks someone coming out of the woodwork and exposing his NIL efforts 20 years before NIL became a thing.

It prob would have evened out because other teams could give money to players legally.

We’d be in even worse shape. Saban was the greatest. He could not take the pace of what needed to be done to stay competitive. He couldn’t hire good coaches any longer because everyone knew his time was drawing close. Enjoy the 17yr run and quit whining that he’s no longer at Alabama. Why would you expect sympathy from a board full of fans who watched him push their crap in for 15 yrs and probably cost at least three sec teams from winning national titles that would have been there’s if he never came to Alabama.

No way they lose to OU last year at home. They played so sloppy and the play calling was ridiculous and they still almost won

“Theirs”. Other than that you are right on all counts. Thanks to Saban no one will match Alabama’s history. Or his run.
To answer the original question.. a lot would’ve been different. Everyone associates Saban with all that talent. But don’t forget the guy was a great coach. Every team he fielded was motivated and had great toughness. In the playoffs last year Bama got ripped. That wouldn’t have happened under Saban. They lacked toughness up front.
I don’t believe he ran from NIL or any of that. I think he crossed 70 years old and finally saw the light. He needed to wake up some mornings and go fishing. Or enjoy his day instead of out working everyone. He earned it. And Bama was lucky to get him. As was LSU.

Alabama would be better obviously. But with NIL and the portal the days of simply having better athletes is over. Funny enough Bama still recruits elite. But the defense definitely isn't what it used to be. Ppl say NIL made Saban leave. I honestly think it was the transfer portal. 5 stars these days transfer if they are not starting early. Bring back the one free transfer rule. After that wait a year unless you are a senior or your head coach leaves. Also a cap is needed. But even with a cap teams will just do it under the table. I always thought USC would benefit the most. I still do, Riley just isn't the answer should have stayed at OU.

What if my aunt had a dick.......... she'd be my uncle.
This thread really shows how down bad Bama fans really are. All they can think ab is "What if Saban stayed", no true hope for the future of the program. Only fabricated hope that they don't really believe.
