I always wonder if the person that downvotes something like this is serious or do they just have trouble noticing sarcasm

Their Georgia recruiting has fell off BIG time. Thanks to Kirby and of course Brian and Gus.

Gross negligence extended over several years.

Everyone has resources. The rise of UGA probably also has them down. They used to be able to recruit Atl.

You’re a pretty solid poster. In your opinion what resources is AU lacking compared to other schools?

Football facilities aren’t up to snuff until that building is done.
Not to mention we are across a small state from a dynasty and our next biggest rival is building one as well just next door.

We do have some advantages but you really need a coach who embraces that and works his arse off. Harsin isn’t that guy.

The easiest answer is Steven Leath. He extended Gus when he should have been gone. He tried to get rid of Bruce Pearl. He hired an AD out of his league who then made a poorly vetted hire in Harsin. Gus mismanaged our roster to comical levels and Harsin just didn't give a rip about recruiting at all. Honestly, I'm beginning to think the joke about him just taking a paycheck to be fired is either right or this guy is the biggest fraud of a college football coach in FBS. But Auburn isn't special in this. Jimbo wrecked FSU, Tennessee was a clown show for years, Florida is still in recovery, Miami is struggling to get back on their feet. NIL will cause more issues like this. Saban changed the game from coaching to management and most teams don't have the resources to compete with the few teams that have made that adjustment. Auburn tried to counter with Gus and his scheme. Then the substitution advantage went away. Auburn has to find a way to build a machine rather than trying to find some nebulous solution in left-field schemes and Lombardi-imitators.

This is some of the best analysis I’ve seen on this issue. I have no love for Auburn obviously but as a child of the 80’s and 90’s and lover of hard-nosed, defense first football you had to respect the program. Watching that chickenshit product Gus trotted out there actually pissed ME off, for my Auburn friends.

The part about cutting corners and looking for lightning in a bottle post-Tuberville over actually doing the work to rebuild a program from scratch I think is the biggest and most noticeable issue (aside from the old school booster problem).

Did not recruit high quality linemen.

It is what it is.

We cannot block very well bc we have limited talent. Guys with limited football experience like the German kid. Guys with limited ability and significant injury histories.

We are not good upfront- especially on offense.

That will have to be fixed for us to compete.

Big, talented linemen are required to compete in this league.

Auburn is geographically right in the middle of two rivals. One a dynasty. The other a budding dynasty. Tough times on the Plains.

They brought it on themselves. I have no pity for them.

They could keep their heads above water with Saban at Bama but it was a struggle, but adding Kirby at Georgia basically tied a 20 pound weight to their feet.

Enlighten me then. Explain why Harsin had no support this summer, or the AD getting canned almost immediately this year. Where’s the direction?

Your posts are exactly why I said you do not have a clue. Harsin had no support this summer was because how last year went. How his reputation from former players was damaged and what people inside the recruiting business said about him. He lost the confidence the Auburn base mainly due to his performance on the field last year and his personality. Then there were people who tried to take advantage of the vote of "no confidence". This season was his last chance to prove himself, his first 4 games almost offically ended it. Most know it is just a matter of time.

As far as the AD Greene is concerned, his days were numbered the day after he made the selection of Gus's replacement on his own. His only chance of survival was if Harsin knocked it out of the park. Then Greene alienated himself from the rest of the AD by make cuts across the board to protect the bottom line. He pissed off a lot of coaches in the Department and really, he was just following orders. He wasn't going to be let go as long a President Gogue was in office. Gogue retired again and Roberts took over. Within 60 days his departure was announced. It wasn't coincident.

Again, you haven't a clue and I'm sure this enlightenment will roll like water off a duck back with you. It doesn't match the narrative your group wants.

They suck

On the field against teams whose southwest Georgia boosters are paying 30 million per year for players, not so good.
