If you didn’t come off like a complete a-hole, I’d think you had some good points. As it stands, what you just said boils down to “his first year didn’t impress anyone.” Saban went 7-6 in ‘07, and it wasn’t particularly pretty. Thank God (if you’re a Bama fan) the admin had faith in him and his personality. After that, Harsin apparently was so unimpressive that unfounded rumors were allowed to run all over the program’s reputation before Auburn said simply “we’re looking into it.” Eventually coming to the point of saying just “he’s still our coach.” The AD pissed people off and was canned, and now Harsin, who has coached a grand total of 17 games at Auburn, is now virtually out the door. That hardly sounds like a well run operation.

So let’s assess: what kind of apparatus allows Harsin to be hired in the place of Malzahn? How planned was this hire? You said it was all on the AD, fair. Why was he the guy there to begin with (AD)?

Why has Auburn hired up-and-comers three times in a row now instead of an actual, proven coach? The thing is, I’ve read your other posts about Auburn and agree with a lot of it even though I’m an LSU fan. Auburn is a great school. It should be another power in the west. The admin runs it like it’s a second-tier program. If it were anything different, Chizik, Malzahn, and Harsin would’ve never been hired. So the best Auburn can muster is streaky success because seemingly everyone is half-in, half-out with whoever the current coach is.

Auburn needs to hire an excellent AD, pay a shitload of money for a proven coach, and let him do his thing. To do anything less is wasting a historic program in the SEC.

“ Tennessee came back from worse Auburn can too”

This isn’t meant to be argumentative, just my opinion. But, I’m not so sure Tennessee is back. You beat a not very good Florida team in Knoxville, by 5.
Let’s see how it goes with Bama and UGA before you’re declared a contender again.
LSU may be very telling.

Same thing that happened to LSU. Poor coaching hires and can't compete with Saban.

Kelly was definitely better than Harsin but still not a good fit. LSU is a little better because they have a higher floor based on being the state school in a talent rich state.

Simple. They’re Auburn. Really good to great every 10-15 years then mediocre to crap the rest of the time.

TLDR..but you are correct.

Auburn knows it's not so much the coach as the players, and always have known this.

....still...Fuk Aubren.

I come across as an a-hole because I usually respond to a-hole post. The obvious agreeable posts usually do not require a response. Most fanbases will voice their opinion without attacking anything that opposes their views. Some will personally attack the poster. Some do it in packs.

Most of my Auburn post are critical of AUs wrongdoings over the years, but I will state misconceptions about other things they do. I will give my view of other programs when some fans throw out their BS.

AUs biggest issue in the past has been the limited amount of alum with BIG MONEY. Those individuals were products of the Depression Era generation. Now AU has many BIG MONEY alums who have a different attitude of sports and marketing. AU is slowly turning away from the old school. This next hire will show that directin and who dictates it.

I will do it. Auburn will get a win over LSU this weekend! That is all it needed to be said.

My guy, you responded to me initially. Nothing I said was to be an a-hole. If you believe what I said is not the case, cool. Other fanbases see it this way. Unfortunately, a lot of this sport maintains the “perception is reality” aspect. Leto and I had a discussion in another thread about what Auburn should be, and what it should be is an excellent SEC program. Not everyone is attacking you.
