I bet Newman got $100k from an agent hoping he can become a first rounder. Too bad he needed to play at uga to become that first rounder. Bad investment.

I agree, I don't really think Kirby did anything wrong

He is, however, a crybaby douche, so I'm happy to pretend he mismanaged this

sounds like a whole lot of nothing

I am sure it does to a fan of team whose goal is to beat Vandy every year. Its all about realistic perspective....UT can't imagine being at UGA's level currently so it sounds like a bunch of hooey....

Dayum. I just wanted to say I agree with everything you said.

I heard Pollack absolutely gushing over that Newman guy, he was their savior. Daniels career is 15-11 td-int in the Pac freaking 12.
Fromm was pathetic last year and they replace him with a guy who hasn't played in a year, returning from an ACL tear and couldn't regain his starting spot on a shitty USC team.

Their offense will be much worse than last year, and they're delusional if they think otherwise.
They even have a starting rb nicknamed Zeus.. Tell me exactly what he's done to earn/deserve that name. He has nothing to show except 2 torn ACLs.

While they love to tout 42-7, 36-17, 24-17.
That's great and all, but that gap is closing and those scores are trending in the opposite direction.
I got no beef with UGA or that fanbase, but I hope some of those guys come back to Earth soon.

Thats not fair.... Smart did not have nearly as good of a team all around as OSU, certainly not even close offensively... that, and add in the fact Smart is strictly a defensive coach while Day is a QB guru.

Is Pollack a beat writer or in Athens covering the team because the guys who do both (Jake Rowe,Kipp Adams,Rusty Mansell) weren't saying that at all and the DAY before he left they the said the QB posistion was a "battle" and Newman had a "slight lead" LINK

Game could have easily been a 17 to 20 point victory last year so it ain't closing any time soon.

I'm thinking Newman figured out he was at a program with an attitude like Alabama but a trophy case closer to Vanderbilt and he got out while the getting was good. Smart guy

They have an established starter who is very good, so this means nothing.

Probably not.

Hmmm,I wonder why Jamar Chase opted out and all the others getting out of Baton Rouge?

If ANYBODY saw the writing on the wall it was him.

You can't fix the past but you can still live down the road when it's over. Justin Fields went a little further than down the road. I don't think UGA is a racist University. In fact, I don't think 98% of what's called racist these days is. I was just busting balls bro.

Kirby is not an alpha dog. He doesnt look or act the part. Similar to neal brown at west Virginia. Hes an underdog type character. There is a confidence factor that he doesn't posses. Im not saying hes a loser but hes just not a killer.

Saban is a killer thats why hes won everywhere from Toledo to Michigan State to LSU to Bama. Kirby had to stay with Saban so long because he had to gain confidence. I imagine he will be there for about 8 years and fizzle out.

I'll say it again:

Newman sees almost an entirely new Offensive Line.
A new OC.
A new OL Coach.
Blaylock goes down.
RBs 1 ahd 2 gone.
TEs 1 and 2 gone.
Limited practices.
Changing scheme.

Georgia before COVID probably was appealing offensively speaking. Now? That's a shite ton of work for a guy who is already grading well and only has stock to lose. That much uncertainty on a team is really, really difficult to overcome when you're a transfer QB and have no history with any of the guys you're playing with.

That offense is going to be hell trying to rebuild in a single off-season.

Besides Blaylock going down, nothing really changed for NOW as opposed to THEN. He knew what he was getting into, so its all about the $$$.

He didn't know about COVID because he transferred before the pandemic panic (he was there in January, before any type of lockdown and the like).

I mean it's an obviously a business move, but he has so little to gain from a very shaky offense with a limited off-season. You guys have no idea how it'll look like, and he was likely told a good story (a few recruits have complained about Kirby regarding this) and it was likely different when he got there.

Jadon Haselwood calling Kirby fake.

Pappoe's coach talking about how Georgia pulled a "commitable" scholarship offer when Kevin Harris went to commit.

“Let’s just be honest here with Georgia in the class at Grayson this year,” Watson Sr. said. “The only kid they really wanted was Owen. The thing that people don’t understand that was really detrimental with Owen is what really happened with the Kevin [Harris] situation. It wasn’t a miscommunication.”

“It was the simple fact they told the kid he could commit. When the kid went to commit, they said no. That really kind of bothered Owen. People don’t understand the relationship that these kids have. That really bothered Owen.”

https://www.ajc.com/sports/college/kirby-smart-unconcerned-with-critique-from-justin-fields-father/xGfe5DsWvgutsNgg60G56N/

Justin Fields also complained along with his father on how he handled the situation.

If I had my guess, it'd be just another player bullshitted and sold something that wasn't there when he got in.

Kenyatta Watson is pissy because UGA didn’t want his kid, and George Pickens and Dominick Blaylock got more run at UGA than Haselwood did at OU.

UGA doesn’t exist as a venue to showcase GA HS players, which is what Watson has openly advocated for.

Fields is a different issue. That was handled poorly once he was on campus.

There is a huge difference between, nobody is going to hit the QB because we don't want to risk injury to to him and nobody can Mathis because he physically is not cleared to take contact!
