I don't count 2007.
Let's see here. Alabama did not win the conference in 2008, 2010, and 2011. Alabama looked far from untouchable versus Georgia in the SEC Championship game last year.
All teams need help to get to the national championship game. After losing to LSU in 2011, Alabama didn't have any opponents left on their schedule that could help them jump Oklahoma State University. Without losses by Oklahoma State and Oregon in the past 2 seasons, Alabama wouldn't even be considered a dynasty.
Face it. Alabama has caught plenty of breaks to reach their current success.

All of that plus Alabama holds on every play.

Outworks people and has that genetic football genius gift. Also, he scares the shite out of kids. Some coaches have one or the other(i think spurrier has the genius part) but nobody else has the extreme high talent in both desciplines like saban.

Any season that ends holding up crystal footballs is beautiful.

He has no life except coaching. He gives it 150% most people aren't willing to do that.

They're also considered a dynasty because of the way they win in the big game.
16 Point margin against Texas
21 Point margin against LSU
28 Point margin against Notre Dame
They make the most of their chances. Plus it isn't like the Oregon and Oklahoma State losses are the ONLY upsets to ever happen in college football, ever. Upsets happen literally every single year and almost every single weekend. It's college football.

He's the best in CFB right now, but Alabama has been lucky too. Teams have lost to get them in certain positions. They've had a good run of being an extremely good football team along with a good run of luck also.

He leaves nothing to chance. He has his finger on everything. I took my son to the Alabama football camp this summer. One of the workers was talking to a few of us Dads. She said that they work all year on the camp. He has input on every little detail of the camp. And this wasn't the star studded camp. He was there all day everyday. Even working with the 8-10 year olds. He hollered at a couple of them to get off their helmet and pay attention.
Yet he has no clue Fluker is getting paid his entire career at Bama.

Well, it took almost three pages before some came in and tarded up the thread.
So there's that.
So there's that.

I think not only is Saban probably the best recruiter in college football in the last 25-30 years but he also SPOTS elite talent in some cases before others do. Seemingly in every Saban class there are at least a 1-2 guys who were flat-out under the radar.
When I think of some of the guys Saban brought to Michigan St like Tony Banks, Demetrius Underwood (I believe that was his name; he had a mental illness and flamed out with the Cowboys), TJ Duckett, Plaxico, Julian Peterson, etc. I don't think Michigan State had that much talent before on a squad since the days of Bubba Smith.
I think offensively Saban isn't as conservative as what people think. I look at his offense now at Bama and especially at LSU when Rohan was QB. He plays to the personnel he has on offense.
Defense goes without saying.
Discipline. His teams don't commit many stupid penalties. Period. Not a lot of personal fouls.
Psychology. Saban knows how to create an atmosphere where those who buy into his program gain leadership positions and they seemingly effectively make a positive peer pressure environment. Those guys who don't buy in just don't last and he sends them on their way.

He pays his recruits, they don't test for steroids, only sec school I believe, and destroys the player future by hitting four days a week

Yeah cause he is with the players 24/7.

This. Clearly Saban is a perfectionist and totally focused. He's simply the best college football coach.

Every school gets a break along the way.
Auburn got several of their own in '10, Sure Bama got a break with other teams losing in '11 & '12. LSU sure got breaks in 07, and frankly got one in '03. As far as im concerned, everyone has gotten a break, eithercin their own games or someone elses.

I'd also like to know the Saban Method that's been negotiated with the SEC that exempts his teams from holding penalties.
Hell of a job there, for sure.

Nobody knows the answer to this question.
He is just a once in a lifetime football coach.
People can say this or that, but the fact is he is just better than every other coach in the NCAA.
Sometimes you are just the best and that's Nick Saban.
