My wife's 1st cousin is getting married on the state bama game. Wedding at 2:30 so hopefully the game is 6:30. I have missed 4 home games in 14 seasons. Needless to say I'm frustrated.

ETA: my wife agreed to a march wedding cause basketball sucked and baseball had not gone to post season. She is a good lady

Imagine the husband....anniversary during football season. Never know what game will be on in the future.

Our anniversary falls on the Mizzou game this year, and we are going to the game.

I'll probably have to get married in the middle of the summer to avoid football and basketball season.

It has really not affected us. I've said before on here that we watched the Egg Bowl on our honeymoon in Jamaica, and I led the bar in a "Hotty Toddy."

We just know our anniversary trip may be a home football game on any given year(or a great road game), and that's great!

I'm going to one Saturday in NOLA... It's like double torture. Not only will I miss the damned game, I am only an hour from just being able to watch it in person.

After I told the groom when he said groomsmen pictures start at 4 p.m. that the photographer can knock themselves out taking pictures of me yelling at a television, they at least acquiesced and moved the whole thing back a little bit.

Abuse of power?

Foul. We have already decided if/when we get married, it won't be during football season...or Mardi Gras...or hot outside. Our marriage window is small

I'm glad my wife's cousin got married during a football weekend. I probably would have broken something if I had to watch A&M vs. Rice live.

That's not too bad.

Two of my friends are getting married early next year. They were really struggling on the date due to another couple's wedding. Anyway, they finally picked a date that worked for everybody...but they didn't ask any of the bridesmaids' guys (me). The exact date and time they picked for the wedding, I was going to be 500 miles south on a float in a Mardi Gras parade. So I had to ask the bride to move and rebook her wedding again. I think she's still pissed at me

I would say foul. When we got married we knew it had to be in the spring, no way we are going to have to make the choice between who's game we missed because of it.

A couple of people in my family have run into issues with fall weddings as well. My cousin had to move hers by a week because it was initially planned for the day of the UGA/AU game and her dad asked who was walking her down the aisle since he would be at the game.

Another, more distant cousin is a UGA grad and married an Auburn grad. They are not big football fans and got married at Callaway the Saturday of Georgia/Auburn in Auburn. Luckily it was a day wedding and a night game, but they said most of the guests treated the reception like a big tailgate party and then left in plenty of time to make the game.

If it's on a bye/crappy opponent, then fine. Rest? Foul.

Even then, there's a considerable lack of foresight being exhibited. Future anniversaries are bound to fall on big football weekends.

But if that's the bed they make, they'll have to lie in it.

Watching football is fun but so is dancing like an idiot. Take it in stride and have a great night on someone else dime.

Be there, but object to the union. Football in the Fall, it is only 4 months out of the year.
