I got married the Friday before the South Carolina game last year. I didn't get one complaint and it was fun having everyone in town the next day for the game.

Not at all, because I wouldn't go.

-I missed my cousin's wedding for the 09 LSU game. I drove up to chattanooga Friday night for the rehearsal dinner, then left immediately after at like 9pm to go to Athens.
-Missed a friend's wedding this year for the SC game. I sent a gift. DWI
-Missed a wedding of my (at the time) gf's good friend in 2011 for the kentucky game. I don't know those people, I'm not going to your wedding.

Also missed an uncle's funeral during the 09 arkansas game but that was kind of tricky, I had their blessing and was told to go to the game. Grandma had a visitation on the Saturday of the '11 SECCG which I missed, but I went to the funeral the next day, which is really the more important event.

But anyways, fall weddings are despicable, and anyone who thinks I'm attending theirs is out of their mind.

If you have a wedding during football season on a Saturday.... It is your own damn fault if no one shows.

Worse during duck/deer season in the state of LA. There's some gray area for a wedding in Sept and Oct. Nov-Jan you are SOL. Only thing that can maybe pull you in is free booze, but that's just a maybe.

I got married last weekend on Saturday, and got the ceremony in before AU and Ole Miss, although the Bama game was going on during the ceremony - but none of the bama fans that attended seemed to case since it was just Ga State.

the issue is no a wedding on gameday, but the timing of it.

Disagree. For people who like going to games, they can't do so by going to a wedding which is basically an all day event. Sure they can watch it at the reception on TV, but many people enjoy going to campus since they can only do so 6 times a year, and tailgating and seeing the game in person.

And an away game is obviously off the table if attending a wedding.

Cool planning bro and congrats on the wedding. Yep, Bama was up 21-0 in like warp speed and was on cruise so I bet no one even cared about the game.

honestly bro, i think women do it intentionally sometimes, basically they are wanting to go toe-to-toe with the game and see if they can "win", basically testing their friends, I think its a vanity or "ego" boost to the women when people show up, almost as if "she" the bride, is more important than the game......

....anyone agree??

I had to stand in a Catholic full mass wedding on the 1st time LSU beat Bama in TS since '89. Wife (no pics) got sick on the way home on the Basin bridge, too much wine.

i've noticed it's usually the high maintenance type girls that do this, most cool chicks are reasonable and of course plan the wedding during the spring or another date

FOUL

Even if it's a crappy game I want to watch my team. I wait all year for football season.

Fraternity bro had a wedding this year for OSU/SDSU. Only good thing was I don't live in C-bus, went to the game for 3 quarters, then showed up to the end of the cocktail hour. So it almost worked out. BUT I did miss the Miami/UF game that I would have gone to had I been in Miami that weekend

we had a few people not attend because they were going to the game - and honestly we were not upset at all. it was to be expected and i explained it to my now wife when the date was picked.

we told everyone before hand that if they couldn't make it due to obligations that day, it was all good.

I'm getting married next October. Ole Miss and LSU are away (its in Baton Rouge and I attended Ole Miss). The ceremony will be after the 2:30 game ends and will last 20 minutes and the reception will have televisions for the night games.

Still foul?

you're clear.....it's the brides that ammo up against the games and basically take a "it's me vs the game" mentality that piss me off

I hate uga, but that avy is quite nice. I might even wash those for her afterwards.

I'll only go if UF is playing a creampuff and that's only if I really like the people.

When my family or ex wife made me go I'd look for a tv or radio no matter how rude it was to watch the game and recruit as many of the normal people as I could. Remember I didn't want to go this was only when my significant other or parents insisted and I did warn them of what is do. They made go like twice several years apart and then quit asking
