I believe we’ll probably end up with Anosike but Marfo is probably the better fit. We need someone that can push Fulky to the 4 for stretches.

Unless we add Green and another elite player or two (like Brown or Kuminga), we will definitely take a step back next year. This past year we lost a lot of production but returned a lot of seniors. This year we are losing almost all production and experience.

Like I said, things can change with a few more elite level players, but I wouldn't be shocked if we lost Green because of this virus hysteria.

I know some have already tried with you but you are not using Kenpom for what it was intended if that is how you are looking at it.

Bruce will make things happen and get some players this spring but I think some of your fans are underestimating how hard it is to replace a senior class of that quality and quantity. Pearl is a very good coach but a 6 man class that won that many games isn’t replaced easily, even if you sign a highly ranked class.

If you guys add Green and Kuminga or something that’s a different story.

Are you not expecting Plavsic back? He wasn't overwhelmingly impressive, but he seemed fine as a backup C.

This thread, and the NCAA Tourney seeding, beg to differ. Don't the Tourney folk use KenPom as one of their gauges for seeding?

Yes but never in a vacuum. In your example of Minnesota, they would look at that as clearly an outlier when gauging other metrics. The system isn't going to be perfect or even close to it but it does a very good job at what its trying to do.

I don’t think anyone said a team that returned 6 contributing seniors off a Final Four team that was a KP top 15 team all year lost their only 3 players.

The situations aren’t comparable at all.
To be fair, I did talk down Auburn's team last pre-season. Thought they were still a tournament team, but I didn't expect them to finish Top 3 in-conference.

But I'm still not overwhelmingly impressed by their team this season. I just expected some other teams to be better.

Like I said.......it's not one specific team. People put great value in a metric that doesn't give a damn if you win or lose......it's about how much you win by or lose by.

In his metric, you can actually gain ground by losing by less than expected and lose ground if you don't win by enough.......which is a joke.

ETA I just don't get that logic and I never will.

Sounds like Jalen Johnson will be pushed out to create the spot with all of the guards coming in. I think he could be a nice player at UNC-G or wherever they find a spot for him.

Plavsic needs another year in the Barnes big man school before he can even be trusted with backup minutes. Definitely need a bridge to him. He is a long, long ways away from being able to trust him in a big game.

Barnes loves Nkamhoua. Although he was pretty dismal this year they are enamored with him long term.

That isn't totally true but obviously margins are going to be important when making projections. Once again, you are trying to put too much on Kenpom. Kenpom isn't there to determine a champion based on the rankings or even an exact order.

Best rosters on paper to me look like

UK
UF
Arkansas
Tennessee
LSU
South Carolina

Easily. I think UK, Arkansas, and Tennessee all have the coaching advantage though, so I see them battling it out for the SEC championship.

Auburn will have a rebuilding year. I guess AU fans forgot Pearl's first three seasons at Auburn. They were very mediocre to bad.

I'm guessing we get at least 7 teams in the tournament.

None of us have forgotten that, but Pearl basically built this program from scratch. The wheels would really have to come off to regress to where we were when he arrived.

You won't have a player on your roster who's ever averaged 15 minutes/game.

Cooper is very talented. Some of your current freshmen showed flashes. Green obviously would be a boost.

But your team will have a lack of experience that would make any UK fan nervous. Teams don't win with that much turnover.

It's a talented but bad roster. See: LSU with Simmons and UGA with Edwards.

One of the dumbest takes I've ever seen. Not just on this board, but not sports related, but literally one of the worst takes I've seen in reference to anything ever.

But then again, you always have had the worst takes on Auburn basketball.

I don't even have a response for that level of stupidity in that statement there. Just preserving it for when I need a laugh later.
