No. It’s not. Now that we can do what they did for 100 years and pay players this is a new era. But no, not a rivalry.

Who the frick ever said this was a rivalry? OU always won on the gridiron. We did have some fun roundball contests back in the Norm Stewart days, but even that never rose to the level of rivalry.

Mizzou has had only ONE true rivalry. kansas. Full stop. Leaving for the SEC deprived us of that rivalry for a bit. We’re getting them back on the schedule for football and basketball in OOC contests. Happy to see it.

Perhaps another rivalry will develop in time, but you can’t manufacture one. It ain’t OU and it ain’t Arky at the present time. I don’t know of even one Mizzou fan that considers either one a rival. No disrespect intended, I’m just saying I don’t know anyone that thinks either are rivals in the traditional sense. Not sure who’s trying to force it!

Nope. I know a lot of MU fans. If you asked any of them to name a rival, ZERO would say OU.

Misery only has one rival and they've been afraid to play them for over a decade

Those were fun, weren't they? Good times and Great game! Tubbs and Norm...man they were animated.

For a part of that time ('88-'90) I worked with the OU mascot (Top Daug) and we did different little pranks/skits on visiting teams using the mascot...

Norm and the Tigers were always good sports about it and certainly the OU fans loved the antics.

In '90 on his third trip during the time we did that...Norm came to Norman. and during warmups he walked over and tossed candy (Jolly Ranchers) to the students. That was pretty cool.

It’s way more a rivalry for Mizzou than OU.

Glad to know we’ve got another member in the 77-0 club! It’s pretty exclusive.

Missouri had more civil war battles than any state other than TN.

Short answer, no.

Slightly longer answer, if there is one it would be in basketball and imo ended when Norm Stewart retired.

Longer answer, 67-24-5 is not close enough to be considered a rivalry. Any rivalry was over after WWII and since then it has been Oklahoma dominating misery.

I wouldn't call it a full blown "rivalry".

I would say that is a game that carries a little more weight than others on our schedule though. Definitely an opponent that you circle on your schedule (at least on the Mizzou side). Understandably, Okies probably don't feel the same given the lopsided series.

Which is interesting since Missouri didn’t have the balls to actually fight the Union.

Read a history book.

Missouri was fighting the Border War and Unionists years before Fort Sumter and Missouri Bushwhackers continued fighting the Unionists for quite some time after the CSA surrendered.

"Rivalry" isn't the right word for the football series...but Mizzou fans generally despise OU, mostly because Mizzou has gotten their teeth kicked in the majority of the series. Same deal with Nebraska...I don't think Mizzou fans thought of Nebraska as a rival, more just we hated them because they were really good and Mizzou...was not. The idea that Mizzou has a decent chance to win this type of game now gives it a lot more juice on the MU side; plus Mizzou has lately become a thorn in OU's side on the recruiting/transfer side.

Basketball had a legit rivalry, particularly during the 80s and 90s when both programs had all-timer coaches.

Y'all have beaten Georgia four times in 13 tries since we joined the SEC.

Damn! OU has a propensity to administer 77-0 shellackings!
