The only issue you bring up that I see as an actual problem is UF and UGA. Since they both have OOC rivals, they may have to change the Cocktail Party to a home and home. It sucks, but if that's the only change it takes to make everything else work then so be it.

Ha. Haha. HAHAHAHA

No. Other schools should not and will not be forced to sacrifice their traditions because Bama thinks they should. Get over yourselves.

You'd still be keeping the game, just moving the location. Small price to pay.

Who are you to decide that it's a small price to pay? You have clearly never experienced the WLOCP, or you would feel differently. The game itself is only part of the experience. That wouldn't be "just moving the location"; you're throwing away the tradition of the Cocktail Party.

(it's certainly not a given this will end but yes, the contract is for 10 more years right now).

Ten more years? I thought we were just going to finish out the remaining 7 years of the original 10 year deal?!

Its all about the home game that the big schools would miss every other year , thats 6 to 7 millon dollars on average , as for the small schools Kent. MISS ST. etc etc that one extra conference game could be the difference in 5-7 or 6-6 and a bowl game.

So even though I figured this was the end result , it still is not good for the SEC '14 teams you need 9 games IMO

Jeremy Fowler @JFowlerCBS Les Miles said coaches unanimously in favor of eight-game schedule by 13-1 count. Only guy for nine is Saban

Source I'll assume it's true.

Thanks for clearing that up. Now that you have pointed out 2 years we can't play, it is obvious now we will never schedule each other again.

to be fair...

quote:

While that rivalry game (FSU) is safe, even if the league goes to a nine-game SEC schedule, there appears to be no future prospects for the Florida-Miami rivalry being revived, regardless of the direction the league takes. After the Gators travel to UM to play the Hurricanes in September, it could be decades before the two schools play again unless they meet in a bowl game.

Foley said there have been no recent talks with UM about future meetings, and none are planned.

“You never say never. But that's not high on the agenda right now,” Foley said. “You've got too many other issues. For me to sit here and say we'll do that right now down the road, there's too many unknowns with scheduling right now.

“If you're at nine conference games, plus Florida State, I'd probably tell you it's really unlikely. But there has been no discussion between us and the University of Miami. Again, I have great respect for the Miami total athletic program, but that's just something that is not high on the list right now.”

Quite frankly, your opinion can suck my opinion's dick. You can say shite about our schedule when you have one worth mentioning yourself. Until then, get your arse back to the kids table and stfu. Adults are talking.

FortWorthTide, so it's perfectly ok for Fla/Ga to change it's tradition of playing in Jacksonville every yr for the greater good of the conference. But let no dare take your precious game against UT off the board,as your traditions obviously matter more.

I don't think that was it at all. I think Loftin realizes the value of that game, and made a new ten year deal.

What will change the AD's opinions on the cupcake games is when people start voting with their wallet. Simply quit going to the games so playing East Directional Tech isn't so profitable. Gator fans have started moving in this direction. A few of hose early season games last year were sellouts in name only. People don't wanna pay premium freight to sit in 94 degree heat to watch the home town heroes beat up on tomato cans.
