Unlike Cajuns, I will not start a thread pretending to bash a staple of their cuisine.

Instead, I will respectfully ask for a good, hopefully simple, recipe for gumbo or etouffe. My ingredient options are limited in this culinary wasteland (and Cajun foood is not my first language), so I will be much thankful for simplicity and brevity.

Oh, and frick LSU.

Best way to eat Gumbo is to throw it in the trash.

So, my pastor’s family gets a new dog. Copper colored. (I won’t say burnt orange).

Kids want a name that refers to red and to a foreign language. They decide on French, and name the dog “Roux” (clearly confusing it with “rouge”).

They can’t understand why I keep calling their dog “Gravy” and quietly laugh to myself.

I take no culinary advice from folks who think BBQ sauce starts with a mayo base.

Is this similar to a "food desert"?
