He coached at Oregon.
Florida is a tad bit different in terms of recruiting ability.
He needs a good DC to keep pace with his high profile offense yes. Hopefully he doesn't keep Shannon. He did go 2-1 vs Luck and Stanford. Did out offense Kiffin and USC. Did go to the title game as a head coach and met superior talent. I mean to say this hire isn't good...is just non sense. He did it at a much lesser talent field in Oregon. His biggest issues were finding good enough lines. You can't hide talent in the trenches. His big focus has to be on S&C and the lines. He can plug kids into his system from Florida easily in the skill positions.

Or him beating the tar out of Jameis and FSU. Another fair view of how good Chip is. Despite much less talent.
Technically this was with Helfrich at the helm. But it was with Kelly's players and his system just one year after he left, so really he should get a good deal of the credit and your point still stands. We saw what happened a couple years after Kelly was no longer running things there.
I am interested to see how his system translates to the SEC, and how he tweaks or changes it based on the personnel he is able to get. One of his problems at Oregon was that they would sometimes get manhandled up front against bigger more physical teams from the SEC and then Ohio St in 2014. If he can recruit some studs on the DL and OL, which he should be able to at FLA, I don't see why his system can't be successful in the SEC.
I think Kelly is homerun hire for FLA and good for the overall quality of the conference. Although FLA could be a real nightmare to deal with in a couple of years.

I think it is a home run hire as well

I forgot he left I thought he coached that year so thanks for the clarification.
He had line issues, you can't hide the line issues vs elite programs. UF had the same thought with Meyer. Can his system work. It did because Meyer was very big on recruiting strong defense and offense lives. The Oregon system can work with lesser talent, to an extent. In the end. The trenches will always decide titles. Hopefully he is aware of that.

Not really. Good hire if true but he doesn't strike fear in the sec.

the SEC has fared pretty well against his offense and lack of discipline on defense.
I think in 4 years you're going to be looking for yet another "Corch."

Chip is going to destroy the SEC at Florida
Yeah he would. The only potential downside is Chip only sticking around for a few years and then making another jump to the NFL ala Dennis Erickson at Oregon State. But he will win big at Florida for however long he decides to stick around.

Not really.
But I heard Willie Lyles is enroute to Florida as fast as he can get it.....I mean because without Willie Lyles Chip was basically a below average recruiter.
It seems to me that UF might be replacing a yellowtooth shark fricker with a yellowtooth shark fricker clone.

I won't say I believe your source, but I think it's a real possibility and that he would be a great fit at Florida.
I can see it happening.
If it does, Tennessee may never win again.

Their personalities may be comparable but their coaching acumens are not.

Definitely a good hire. Even though he may not like to recruit, he will have it a lot easier at Florida. Maybe his dislike for recruiting stemmed from having to do it at Oregon which is no easy task. The state of Florida has 364 prospects. Seeing what Kelly was able to do with the 3*s he had at Oregon, I'd imagine he can do a hell of a lot of damage at Florida. If he can land 1 5*, 10 4*s and 14 3*s that will be a top 10 class every year and he can most certainly do that just in the state of Florida. Add in lower Alabama and Georgia and his numbers can be even better.
Weep, Vols fans. Florida has beaten you again this season.

He didn't like sucking up to boosters and traveling to recruit.
He doesn't have to travel, but the booster thing...well..yea you have to sorry bro part of the game. If Saban does it, you damn sure better too Chip.
I think he learned the NFL is what it is. CFB is what it is. If he comes back to CFB, I think he will accept that you have to do things a certain way. He makes six million doing nothing. No reason for him to take the UF job unless he wants to be back in CFB. He could easily take a OC job in the NFL in a second.

Won't work. No way in hell HE cleans up that culture / mess. Tennessee is a better job right now.
