This sounds like something a manic depressive would say.

Transfer portal gives and takes. Its not all rainbows and unicorns on the other side.
It is a good idea for the press to push these kinds of stories though...it may, just maybe, keep a young man from getting his feelings hurt at school A and jumping ship to school B. There are a BUNCH of people who have done it and it has turned to shite for them. I would bet that a LOT of them were encouraged to do it by the coaches and staff at the school they transferred from. Many find they have no one interested. Many of them come out of high school where there were among the best they played against without any real work ethic or the many tools required to be successful at the next level. Given that coaches have millions riding on wins and losses you can bet that some are happier than hell that a kid that ain't working out leaves. In the past they had to ride them off the team...now all they gotta do is encourage them to transfer.

I’ve never seen a fan of another school so obsessed with Alabama athletics, and on this board that’s saying something. Dude was a lacrosse player/turned football player and spent less than a year at Bama. Played in one game. He was a warm body for the QB room and practice squad. You searched for and read that entire article and proceeded to copy/paste it to this board. So pathetic.
But you got me to reply, so here’s some attention from Bama fans that you so madly crave. Maybe it’ll make your day a little better.
P. S. And you had the nerve to talk about his emotional state.

So life can be hard and put you in a ‘deep, emotional hole’ when things don’t go exactly to plan. Wow, welcome to planet Earth Tyler
Yes......thats exactly what he is saying. He then said this:
What I had been working so hard for all these years suddenly felt like a pipe dream. And over the following weeks, I felt hopeless and hated football. I had to dig deep to realize that I would have to seek new goals there in Tuscaloosa. I had never played scout team before, but ahead of LSU, I pulled myself out of my funk and volunteered to run scout. After the game, Coach Saban found me and thanked me for helping the team beat the Tigers. I had discovered a new role on the team and recognized that one bad game would not define my contribution. I learned to truly appreciate having shared goals in the common pursuit of excellence, even if I was not playing.

Are we supposed to feel bad for the guy?
.
Theres a reason he didnt post the entire letter because it showed that Buchner was deeply disappointed in getting benched. Then persevered through it and found purpose in being on the team and volunteered to start running the scout team. The entire letter.

I mean it is pretty pathetic how he copied and pasted the letter. I would hope my kids would react to disappointment in life like Buchner did.

Well his performance against USF put a lot of Alabama fans in a “deep, emotional hole.”

I was OK with it until this last part and “bill of goods.”
Results matter. His failure to hold up to his end of the bargain is on him and no one else. Quit being a pussy and either get better or find something else to do.

quote:It was Milroe's performance against us the week before (which I personally didn't think was that bad) that gave Buchner the chance more than anything else. But you're right in the benching lighting a fire under Milroe.
I highly doubt it. I’m sure we had some receivers and DBs that played QB in high school that were also better.
Granted it was played in a monsoon, but the only Bama QB he compared to from what I saw with my eyes was Brandon Avalos. Just an absolute wet noodle for an arm. I think it benefitted Milroe a lot to get benched, but my goodness Buchner was bad. Tommy Rees undoubtedly went to bat for him but I was shocked he saw the field. Dude must have been a stud in practice.

Tommy Rees sold him a bill of goods. Told him he would be a starter, but he was the third best QB on the roster.
He had an open path to start.
He then took the field and everyone learned very quickly what the situation was.
None of that is on Tommy Rees, every athlete eventually is slapped across the face with their limitations, whether it’s due to injuries, talent or age.
The whole article was about him having to confront his athletic mortality. I wish him well and didn’t take any of it as a negative towards him, the coaches or the school, just some hard life lessons coming fast on national TV.
