You lost to a team with Greg McElroy at QB.

Yeah, that guy sucked and ran his mouth a lot..There was probably backup QB's better than him in the Big 12 that year...

I wish Colt had made it to halftime before that injury...Texas probably would have been so far ahead by then they would have had to rely on McElroy more. I mean Texas still had a shot in the 4th quarter after wasting 2 quarters not letting there backup QB throw a forward pass.

Once Alabama went up 24-6 they went into "run out the clock" mode, especially with McElroy's broken ribs. In 2008/2009 that was a big thing Alabama did, and it came close to costing them big leads vs Ole Miss, Kentucky, Georgia, etc. in 2008 and Texas and Tennessee in 2009. Throw in some really dumb decisions made in that game (the fake punt, the "onside" kick in no mans land, etc.) You can argue either way, but both teams played dramatically different once Colt was out.

The funny thing is if they had had to take GMac out of the game they were going to burn AJ McCarron's redshirt and play him.

That's interesting. I don't think that was by far Saban's best team on defense; especially the secondary. Shipley was running open most of that game. They did have one heck of a running game though and Texas Dline was more geared to rushing passers..They weren't going to slow down BAMAs running game for long no matter what.. Would have been nice to see what the outcome would be had Colt stayed healthy, worst ending I can imagine for him after a great college career..

Yeah man if Colt had not gotten hurt then the Horns win, we’d all be driving hover cars, and there would be a city on Mars right now.

Fun fact: Colt McCoy had exactly the same amount of total rushing/passing yards in Texas' opening drive against Alabama as Jordan Jefferson did in LSU's opening drive against Alabama in 2009! Lmao
Oof

I wish jj would have gotten hurt

The speed sweep with Trey? caused more problems than Colt. When y’all got first / goal and had to kick a fg, it didn’t bode well. Shipley was the one player which consistently got his, he and Colt were both a class act.

GG played tough cause he got tossed a good bit. I think there was a question once if he’d be able to continue even after Colt was hurt.

Then this happened…

Bama made Colt unhealthy. Bottom line Colt not conditioned for bear like SEC linemen to fall on him and drive a once healthy shoulder into a pile of mush never to return.

No, McCoy was a big puss, and so was the rest of the team.

I'm sure the point has been made, but with Mc Elroy's ribs being like they were Julio Jones was pretty much reduced to being a blocking tight end.

Julio Freaking Jones. I don't want to hear any more about Colt Mc Coy.

Alabama was an onside kick from coming back and beating your GOAT team Taylor. You couldn't stop Tua in the second half.

Yes. The backup damn near brought them back. Texas was an onside kick away from winning iirc. They win with Colt.

This one is fine because we take their place in 08 and win that one instead.

Now that makes absolutely no damn sense.

What’s funny is that this highlights the fact that as bad as Texas has been the last 20’years, they have played in the NCG twice during that stretch. Meanwhile , Aggy hasn’t played for a NC since the Beer Hall Putsch.

Texas had two shots at big points and came away with two field goals. Their night ended there.

Texas could have had them down by 3 scores fast the way there offense was moving with Colt.

They had 25 yards and 0 points

The odds makers must have known that McCoy was going to take a dive since 'Bama went in as a 9 point favorite.
