Yes. The backup damn near brought them back. Texas was an onside kick away from winning iirc. They win with Colt.

Fun fact: Colt McCoy had exactly the same amount of total rushing/passing yards in Texas' opening drive against Alabama as Jordan Jefferson did in LSU's opening drive against Alabama in 2009! Lmao

Using your logic, Bama was an onside kick away from beating lsux in 2019 and would have won with a healthy Tua since Tua threw for more yards and more TDs than Joe Borrowed while playing injured.

That was perfect Karma for me when McCoy went down with a shoulder injury, thus costing them an NC. When OU played them in the RRR, our Heisman winning QB also went down with a shoulder injury, and those classless assholes in the stands cheered. So...

I believe you all were down by 20 or 30 at halftime of that game - a few trash time TD’s might’ve made it seem close - but it was over at halftime.

Texas was outplaying A1abana with Colt (in a big way).

I remember another team that played a true freshman backup in a national title game. He didn't "damn near" anything.

It was the most dominating 26 yards on 5 plays (5.2 YPP) that I've ever seen.

McElroy played that game with cracked ribs and could barely throw the ball because of it. So Texas wasn't the only team with an injured QB. The difference was that McElory wasn't a pussy.

The sign of a weak program is having no backup.

Sadly this.

On that note, both times, Kirby said we spent all our time prepping against the starter and not the backup.

Tua hurting us made sense. Hurts hurting us (pun intended) wasn't necessary.

5.2 yards per play wins me every game George.

Thank you for proving my point.

Congrats Horns, you won it

Hard to sell that twice and Hurt's played a lot of ball that season. He shouldn't have sneaked up on anyone, especially Georgia. They had just schemed him the year before for a national championship.

Smart knows where he stands by now. Kirby needs to get to the playoff, badly.

Even as much as I hate the Gumps....I cant agree with this statement. Alabama steam rolled those cows.

Are college football games 30 or 60 minutes long? I'm pretty sure they're 60 minutes long, so halftime scores are meaningless. But please slick willie, continue with your delusion...

I disagree. Texas had a chance to jump out to a two possession lead. Bamas offensive line was not holding up in pass protection. No doubt Bama would have had some success running the football, I just don’t think it would have been consistent enough to keep up with the scoring Texas would have done against that jumbo defense.

McElroy had cracked ribs going into that game so the gameplan was to stick to what had gotten Bama that far - running the football and playing solid defense.

I was in the Rose Bowl that night and can confirm that Bama could and did run the football - to the tune of 200+ yards.
