We've had this discussion before. I'm not going to go back and redo the research I did then, but you should take a look at NC winners over the past decade or two and compare how many players were drafted from each team in the three years following their championships. Auburn 2010 doesn't just stand out like a sore thumb - it is absolutely ridiculous how few players off of that team were NFL-caliber. LSU 2019, on the other hand, is up there with a couple of Bama teams as the most laden with pro-quality players.

Burrow had a great year in 2019 but he had perhaps the best receiver corps in college football history to throw to. Newton took a team full of also-rans and carried them to a championship more or less by himself. I hate Auburn with the fire of ten thousand suns but Newton is the best QB ever to play the college game and I'm not sure it's particularly close.

How many of the Tide players actually panned out in the NFL?
Taking into account physical injuries, criminal activity and being over-hyped?

I actually watched the 2010 IB the other day, it was on TV. Auburn had a really good 2nd half defense in 2010, and a fair amount of skill speed, a freshman stud RB, and an exceptional TE.

Yes, Cam willed them to victories in most of those games, but his supporting cast wasn't that bad. Not a bunch of NFL talent, but several good college players.

The defense is really underrated and yeah, they always tightened up in the 2nd half. A few of those games looked like Auburn was going to lose big by halftime (Clemson, USC, Georgia, Bama all got out to big leads).

Cam had some clunker games, too, but he did enough to win. The common narrative that the willed wins out of nothing is probably wrong, though. Auburn was a good team. They needed a good QB to win it all, but they weren't slouches.

7 games were 1-score victories.

Auburn just got lucky he chose them.

Did we get lucky or did we make him a strong arse offer. Make up your minds.

He definitely would have helped the 2010 South Carolina team that won the East with drunk arse Stephen Garcia. That team had Marcus Lattimore, Alshon Jeffrey, Stephon Gilmore, and Melvin Ingram just to name a few.

Can't sell the 2010 Auburn O-Line short. We had a lot of solid collegiate athletes. The receiving core and our backfield were good examples. Yes, Dyer was probably NFL caliber had he not shot himself in the foot. But the remainder of those guys on both sides of the ball were very solid, but not NFL caliber. Some went to smaller leagues, CFL, etc.

Cam doesn't lead a comeback for the ages (2010 IB) with a team of high schoolers.

Nobody is arguing Auburn had Samford’s talent.

It’s just not the typical talent you see win the national championship game from your usual football factories- OHIO State, Bama, Georgia, etc

Auburn then was more like TCU, except even TCU had 8 drafted including in rounds 1,2, and 3 this year.

Difference is Auburn won and didn’t get embarrassed

Good article: showing the rarity in Auburn’s victory

You'd think the supposed best college QB ever wouldn't get outplayed by Felipe Franks and get shut out at home.

Alabama’s melt down only happens because it was against Auburn in the Iron Bowl. He takes most teams 11-1 10-2. Only Auburn had the magic formula.

Nope. I can list a number of reason but there are also to many schools to list that he would have no chance. Here’s the easiest one. Idaho St.

He almost went to Oklahoma. Would have easily won an NC there.

But Auburn posters here tell us that Cam was better than Joe because Auburn had no talent.

LSU talent around Joe >>>> Auburn's talent around Cam

Look how many Auburn offensive players outside Cam played any significant downs in the NFL.

It appears you have the education of a ten year old little girl that flunked out of school.

It is obvious to all that you are unable to think logically. Too much of Burrow’s semen in your mouth and stomach has really dumbed you down even more than you were after you were kicked out of school.

I guess you don’t like facts & statistics. It’s ok. Some people are ignorant. I bet you also believe this administration is doing a wonderful job running our country too. SMH.
