Marlin can be eaten but tastes like crap. Usually it is ground up and made into a patty type deal.
We donate all the kill fish to the Mobile AL homeless shelters. A fish that size can feed a lot of people for awhile.
If I am not fishing the tournament, I am a registered official with the Billfish Association. I am usually monitoring the weighing. My youngest son transports and handles all the fish. He also gets to chop them up and put them in the Homeless transport trailer. Nasty job.

I have weighed in every single marlin caught in the Blue Marlin Championship since its inception up until last years and this years (health issues)
I have also worked the scales at the Emerald Coast Classic and the Pensacola Ladies invitational...
I am not saying that isnt a grander but in that pic it does not look a grander. It could be the picture.
Those could be some big 450 pound dudes in the pic.

Does adding a different spring help?
I run several with cans and integrated suppressed barrels. Never had an issue. The Remington Subsonic 40 grain is what I run. Remington ammo is garbage for accuracy but ok for plinking.

I usually converse with them to try to see if they are truly a bum or just a scam. Pretty easy to tell.
If they are just scamming I disregard them and move on.

I would see him often around town in Orange Beach. His granddaughter dated my oldest son for a bit. Had beers with him. I ate at his house. Basically for about ten years he stayed pretty messed up. Good guy for the most part. I dated one of his wife's friends from Cali for a bit. She was about ten years older than I was.
They named an alley after him in Foley next to the Bowling Alley. Sort of a disgrace by the city in my opinion. Thought he deserved at least a decent street.
