The real point is, most of the civilized, decent world know when to be respectful and compassionate and when NOT to say something so ridiculously insensitive and cold.

Then the rest of the civilized world shouldn't have a problem scrolling past.

The problem is - you and nobody else are the sole arbiter of what is civilized or decent. Hell - I didn't even have a strong opinion about this incident. Just another van of college kids drunk. They hits things now and then. Sometimes they die.

But folks like you, that are so sure you know when and when not people may or may not speak certain things ? You make me want to rent a billboard - just to paste "Don't drive around in a van after midnight when you've been partying. It can kill ya'."

Two weeks ago, it was who can or can not ask how the playoffs get scheduled after a dude collapses. Now, its what may or may not get said after another early morning driving fatality. But Hell ... it's no different than the crust old bastards bitching about wearing a hat inside, thirty years ago. Scolding is nothing new. It's the National Pass Time.

It’s terrifying to think of the times I and my friends drove too fast, or rode with someone who had been drinking, or were out that late at night. Speculating as to what happened to these young people does not make it less tragic. Maybe take a break.

No shite. I know I got in the car and didn’t realize someone was drunker than than they let on. RIP to those two.

What a lot of people don’t realize in this thread is that it’s very normal in Athens (and other college towns) to be out that late on weekends. A lot of people grab Cookout or McDonalds that late and aren’t necessarily drinking or partying.

Speculation on what happened is completely unnecessary at this point

Apparently they were headed to Waffle House to meet up with teammates.

I had Waffle House for the first time a month ago. I would’ve gained 10 more pounds in college had one been nearby.

The Athens Clarke-County Police Department will continue to investigate the accident and does not anticipate releasing any further information on Sunday. Per an ACCPD source, no initial evidence indicates substance or excessive speed were contributing factors.

From AJC article on the matter.
