10. Nashville - Look at us! We suck! We ruined country music! yeah, NOT Music City

Nashville is just where Country Music drifted to...where it took root, grew, and now evolved into something else...the birthplace of Country Music is Bristol, Tennessee (on the Tennessee/Virginia state line). The 1927 Bristol Sessions, when the Victor Talking Machine Company recorded and launched the careers of Jimmy Rogers and the Carter Family, was when Country Music moved from the foothills of Appalachia to the radios across the country.

Look at the Talent that came from the Mississippi/Arkansas Delta.

I fully get the point here, but technically, Elvis Presley is from Tupelo - which is NOT in the Mississippi Delta.

The Carter family is from Virginia and was known as hill music.

Then later on country/western music then finally just country music.

However, the delta is not a destination

The Mississippi Delta Blues & Heritage Festival in Greenville definitely is.

1. Eunice,Mamou,Ville Platte - the home of cajun music. Damn, Y'all some couillions.

"Cajun music is an accordion- and fiddle-based, largely francophone folk music originating in southwestern Louisiana"

King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, Arkansas.

For a short period of time, Helena isn't awful.

Start in Memphis, not bad at times. Then go down Highway 61 to Tunica, play some blackjack before going to Clarksdale. Time it for their Juke festivals really good time. Blues Museum is there as well. Try Abes BBQ. Then go down to Cleveland where they have a grammy Museum that is nice. Stay on 61 and eat at the original Does steak house in Greenville, you can turn east and hit up Indianola and see BB Kings hometown and keep on going to Greenwood to see where Robert Johnson is buried. Get back on 61 and go through Vicksburg and stop in lorman at the ole country store and get some world famous fried chicken before going through Natchez. Do what you need to do to avoid Baton Rouge, that place is a shite hole, and end the trip in New Orleans!

The first couple Three 6 Mafia tapes from the early to mid 90s shite on every boomer shitcore artist this OP listed.

Athens can claim the Butthole Surfers since they lived there during their peak and made REM look like a bunch of wimpy pencil necked dweebs

Shout out to Houston - city of syrup. DJ Screw ftw baby.

Also don’t forget Marty Stuart’s museum when it gets rocking down there. IMO, it will end up better as far as classic country goes than the actual Country Music Hall of Fame. Marty collected and saved everything, was given a lot - much of which is in the CMHOF in Nashville now and will end up in Miss.

The entire list is a non sequitur,,,
Some lists types of music, some lists artists, some lists cities or areas. Which is it?
I can't imagine a better way to enjoy music for a one-two week periods than going to a weekend of Jazz Fest, catching the music at the small venue clubs during the weekdays between Jazz Fest weekends, then traveling between Baton Rouge and Lake Charles to catch some Zydeco, then real Cajun music south of I-10. Just my opinion..
