re: Vietnam book recommendations.
Posted by nealnan8 on 2/26/26 at 6:09 am to Gerry Laval
I just wanted to add my recommendation for two books that have already been posted:
Rumour of War and Dispatches.
One was written by a soldier who was part one of the first group of combat soldiers dispatched to Vietnem. The other was written by one of the most repsected journalist who was imbedded with troops in Vietnam. Several scenes in Apocolypse now were taken from Herr's book.

My company (mid-sized manufacturing co.) has spent 9 miilion on the extra tariffs levied by Trump. We have docemented in great detail these amounts and also have our quarterly reports from U.S.Custims and Border Protection, who collects tariffs. We have also incurred other fees - legal, comsulting, etc- related to tariffs. Due to the extra tariffs, oir COGs have gone up, reducing profitability. We have also had a hring freeze. You can be damn sure that we will be making an effort to recover this 9 million.
re: Who else didn't know Lake Pontchartrain was a top 5 U.S. destination for deadly sharks

The lake is essentially a nursery for bull sharks. The adults swim back to the gulf pretty early after giving birth. The several non-lethal bites over the last 5-10 years were mostly kids getting ankle bit by small adolescent sharks.

Wake me when they correct the injustice of not having Jethro Tull in.

Let them watch Freaks (1932) and Faces of Death (1978) and they will be set for life for traumatic movies.
Well actually...there was insurance for horses in the early 1800s. Owners could buy insurance coverage to cover damage to their horse and also to cover any damage done to another party by the horse. This coverage (while different form the 1800s) still exists today.

I somewhat disagree. If you are living between Jefferson and Napoleon, don' t live more that 6 or 7 blocks off of St. Charles, going toward Claiborne. Prertty sketch once you get between Freret and Claiborne in this area.

You are refering to chromesthesia, and you dom't have to have a brain injury to have this condition. Torie Amoss has this, as well as Leonard Bernstein. When they hear a musican note, they see a color in their head. Pretty fascinating.
Not a hospital ship, but a hospital boat. He had time to think about what he typed but decided on this wording. Stable genius...

One of my favorite movies. Oldman in full force and gobbling up each and everyscene. Fantastic actors and acting. Harris , Turturro, Penn, O'Reily, etc.

Saw J.B. around 1976 on NOLA and Lindley was hard to ignore on stage. Ridiculously talented playing pedal steel guitar, fiddle, mandolin and electric guitar. A shy and humble appearance as well.

Yep! Every member of the Meters was a seriously talented muscian. IMO Cissy Stut is to this day, the best funk song ever recorded.
