Well by God if Kirby said it then it must happen UGA seems to be doing quite well in recruiting so lets just drop a game that has been played in Jax for many many decades because Kirby said so.

Jacksonville sucks. Six hour car drive, boring city, boring NFL stadium, tailgating underneath an interstate overpass. The only good thing about it is that some people get to stay at St. Simons or Amelia Island during the weekend and go to the game.

Not once out of the four times have I gone have I thought that I would rather be in Jacksonville than Athens every other year and possibly a road trip to Gainesville every now and again.

I agree with Kirby.

Who the frick gives a shite about Jacksonville and whatever the name of that stadium is anyway? At least Legion Field (Bama-Auburn) and the Cotton Bowl (OU-UT) have some real history.

But, the point is that either way, right now at least, UGA isn't able to bring recruits to this game and we can't.

So make it so you can. Problem solved.

The World's Largest Cocktail Party got started in Jacksonville far earlier than the Iron Bowl at Legion Field in Birmingham. The only reason why you say this is because Alabama-Auburn is the conference's most intense and famous rivalry. It lasted as a neutral site from 1948-1989, whereas the Georgia-Florida game has been going strong as a neutral site game since 1933.

UGA/Auburn used to be played at a neutral site as well. That ended.

The first matchup was in 1892. The first game in Auburn wasn't until 1960 although it had been in Athens a few times.

That’s your personal problem. You don’t like it there, that doesn’t mean it should be moved.

This is a UF-UGA decision and the SEC and other conference schools should stay out of it.

See, but that fix is not what some want.. they still will have another reason. Kirby’s only reason is recruiting. He has said in the past if that could get worked out he’d be fine.

The problem is some fans, either can’t get access because of their season tickets status ; so they have to go after market.. or they don’t want to drive to Jacksonville or SSI and stay.. they want it convenient for them.. make it easier for them.. they prefer to get to ride an hour to Athens and get to see the game from the upper deck every other year..

They don’t care about the extra 4M every 2 years. The traditional. Especially how it will decimate the economy of coastal Georgia. They care about themselves.. recruiting is just a easy way to have 1 side of the argument, they don’t care about it either.. they care about themselves , period! They are selfish!

If it’s moved, it won’t be because I don’t like it. I don’t make those decisions. That said, I don’t like it very much and would prefer for it to be home and home, but that’s just my opinion.

I will concede this. I do t want it moved for 3 reasons..

The money, both to the schools and the economy of coastal Georgia which desperately needs it.

The tradition.. it’s one of a kind.

The final one, is I believe that you are putting in jeopardy the guarantee of the SEC prime 3:30 slot every year. If it goes home and home ., it will move.

However, I could get behind .. not that it matters.. a rotation of ..

Athens- Gainesville-Jax-Jax.. and repeat..
the tradition continues somewhat
The area gets some impact.
The students get gray beach and the road trip 2 times in 4 years.
The players get Jax twice, plus Athens and Gainesville once in 4 years.
Kirby gets 1 of the 2 recruiting chances back.

But by no means does the game need to be in Atlanta.. that’s just dumb as can be!

I thought about this same concept befor but for the Southwest Classic. I would be open to it. But for us I’d rather play an out of conference opponent on a neutral field every two or three years. But I’d be open to it.

The reason the game is in Jacksonville has nothing to do with the players or coaches, it is for the fans.

It is for the students, alumni and sidewalk fans. The players and coaches don't any much of clue because they have never made the road trip. It is a blast. Parties everywhere.

Why can't we keep something for the fans? It seems like we are an afterthought anymore as it is all about the players and coaches. Smart and Tebow have never experienced the game like the fans do, so they really don't know. Well Tebow does moreso than Kirby since he lives there.

If the game is moved I would be good not having Georgia as an annual rival. I think the Cocktail party is what made the rivalry special and without it, it is just another rivalry.

This would definitely happen. The same mouthbreathers who want it moved would be wondering why the game is at noon on ESPN2 instead of in a prime time slot.

The games are fun to go to because everything that surrounds them: tradition, pageantry, etc. That includes the fans who sit in the stands.
