Memphis bbq is good. Me and my family went to rondezvous in downtown a few years back and I wasn't impressed. I told then we should hAve went to some little hole in the wall bc that's usually where you get the best bbq, but they wanted to go there. It was alright, but I've had better bbq in baton Rouge honestly.

It also would be tough to beat Missouri as a state with st Louis and Kansas city represented there. Kc is known for its bbq.

For beef, Texas style BBQ is great. For pork, I'll go with Memphis style BBQ though.

St Louis is one of the worst "BBQ" towns there is.

They grill shite and slap BBQ sauce on it and call it BBQ.

Lol, that is true for a lot of things, but not everything. Bottom line is that louisiana is know for its cuisine, by well, everyone. I've never met someone that went to new Orleans and didn't rave about the food. Not knocking Texas at all bc I love Tex mex and I go to Houston quite alot with it being so close and business. We don't have the Mexican food Texas has and I wish we did. I love papcitos. Papadeauxs isn't bad either.

Congrats?

It's just never occurred to me to brag about the number of livestock that live in the same state as me.

Texas seafood doesn't even compare to seafood in louisiana. We have the best seafood in the nation hands down.

Part of this is true. Seafood in Texas is a letdown. I wouldn't call it your typical seafood but Louisiana/New Orleans is hard to beat. commanders palace, brunch at Brennan's and so many other great places. Hell, I even prefer delmonico over most Texas steakhouses I've been to.

I will say this about Texas bbq though, many people say they don't like brisket as much but I attribute this to most people not having experienced great brisket. Or trusting that a-hole guy fieri.

My hatred of mayonnaise wouldn't ever allow me to do that. LOL I've heard it's good - just something I haven't been able to bring myself to make. Is it worth trying?

I almost always do a chili based rub for chicken. I tend to alternate between a hickory BBQ sauce or some sort of sweet/spicy glaze, depending on what ingredients I have on hand at the time and who all is eating.

It's aight.

I usually mix it with a traditional sauce and make a dipping sauce for the bird. I wouldn't let it close to pork

if this is what you're judging Houston/Texas on for food then you really need to step your game up.

Going to Memphis for the BBQ and getting Rendezvous is like going to New York for culture and hitting up Times Square.

Rookie mistake.

We're talking food. Cows taste fricking great. We have lots of them. We cook lots of them. And we do it well.
