Also, seems weird presenting a non-federal LEO your military ID instead of a driver's license (that could have also have verified your age/identity). In areas with high concentration of military members (or a large corps of college cadets), it is almost a certain way to get a tkt.

I was at a bar and showing it to get a drink when the cop ran over in "THAT'S A FAKE ID" mode. He tried to pull the "that's not a legitimate ID" card and I responded with "this ID card has been in effect since 2001" then I arrogantly pulled rank with the "how many fricking Captains do you know under the age of 21!?" and he really got mad.

Keep in mind this was 2004 and I had just gotten back from Iraq 2 months prior so I wasn't about to take shite from a cop.

Most small town cops suck. The Oxford PD went full nazi for a year after the Dan Cummings incident, like arrested responsible students walking home for being drunk in public

Let me fix my previous post...

You're at least 46 and claim to have been a commissioned officer in the military and you still act like a doosh?

No, and you clearly don't know many senior officers if you think that there aren't douches in uniform.

Furthermore, if I'm minding my own business at a bar you don't just come up to me accusing me of counterfeiting my ID when you don't even know what it is supposed to look like and expect me to just acquiesce.

Is public intoxication not illegal in Mississippi?

This is also why people like me that respect those in uniform tell people like you to go frick yourself.

I lived in College Station for over 30 years and was not tied to the University for any reason. Students come and go (pee in your yard, have loud parties at 4 am, disobey driving laws, clog the grocery stores, cause wrecks etc) and need to understand that mommy and daddy can't get you out of every screw up in your life.

If you choose to live in a town named COLLEGE Station I have zero sympathy for you having to deal with a bunch of college kids all the time. Don’t want to deal with a lot of college aged kids? Don’t live in a fricking college town with one of the largest universities in the country in it. Not too difficult.

Also CSPD is the absolute worst

Obviously it is, kids were getting arrested for walking a few blocks home because the police were on some weird power trip. I’m not talking about shite faced kids puking and wandering into the street. Try to use context clues and keep up

There has to be more than jaywalking.

But yet, when the guy asked "what am I being arrested for"? the cops response was "for evading". That situation did NOT warrant that type of response from law enforcement. An officer is SUPPOSEDLY trained to access the situation, DE-ESCALATE the situation.

How do you de-escalate a guy that has been running from you and then fights you when you start to arrest him?

Wait. I know how. You take his sorry arse just like they did.

You mean context clues like the kid is drunk enough to attract the attention of LE or are you saying they set up some random checkpoints on the sidewalk?

I doubt it was the second situation, but if it was then you are correct that shouldn’t happen. If it was the first and they were drunk enough to attract LE attention, I refer you to your acknowledgment that public intoxication is illegal in Mississippi.

CSPD arrested an A&M running back in 2002 because his dog's vaccinations weren't up to date.

Did they kick down his door and check his paperwork or was there more to it?

One of their idiot cops tried to confiscate my military ID after I got back from Iraq in 2004 because he didn't believe I was 25 years old and thought my ID was counterfeit.

So they just randomly stopped you and wanted your ID or was there more to the story.

It was an abuse of power in a lot of the situations. After a drunk student killed one of their own, here was a period where they came down hard on other students. Yes, they had the typical way too drunk to be in public arrests but a lot of them were not. They arrested so many people one gameday that they were having to book people in the jail parking lot

Back when NASCAR was really big on race day they set up a mobile jail and booking site right in the speedway parking lot.

A sketch dude not responding to lawful orders runs from the police and fights them when stopped and you want a de escalation? How? Couldn’t just give him a citation because he ran. He was not harmed. What do you want? He escalated the situation not the cops. Take your damn ticket and move on. Or better yet, don’t break the law a-hole

Such a stupid argument. So it’s innocent people fault for living there? They deserve to have these clowns pee in their yards etc etc.

Next you’ll be blaming police who get ambushed for responding to a call. I mean if they’d just ignore the call then all would be well.
