Bicyclist arrested for Evading Detention, Resisting Arrest, and Resisting Transport — At about 1:05 p.m. a bicyclist ran a red light at University Drive and Nagle Street. The bicyclist initially stopped when one of our officers initiated a traffic stop, but then continued riding.

The officer followed the bicyclist until other officers arrived and they were able to take the bicyclist into custody (at about 1:10 p.m.). The bicyclist, 34-year-old Jose Humberto Diaz, Jr. of College Station was arrested.

Bicyclists on the roadway are required to follow the same rules and responsibilities as motorists. A large percentage of crashes can be avoided if motorists and cyclists follow the rules of the road and watch out for each other.

So the entire reason for this whole shitshow was because someone on a bike ran a red light?

lol what a fricking waste of time energy and the repairs to that motorcycle that idiot dumped out on the sidewalk.

This is why people get mad.

Shouldnt even react like this if a car blows a red light.

I'm pretty much full ACAB at this point. I don't trust a single one.

Serious question for you.

What would you do if your house/car was broken into, or if you, or someone you loved, was assaulted? Would you call the cops to assist? I'm seeing more people throw around "ACAB" and I'm wondering what they'd do in a situation where they need the assistance of the police. My guess is that a lot of the "ACAB" folks are really, "ACAB...until I need them to protect me, then they're okay."

There are consequences for flagrant disrespect of the law, it should be common sense.

Im not sure how CS works but for Texas sheriff depts, the officer buys the bike and gets reimbursed only in operation costs. Some cities, the city owns the bike and some, it’s like the counties. The officers own the bike.

He probably did.

How could the person filming possibly know what he was being chased for? Its pretty clear that the chase started well before the biker was in the recorder's sight.

It takes a little bit to get the phone out and recording. He easily could've seem the beginning without filming.

Sir, how many police academies have you been through? If someone is resisting arrest, and won’t put their hands behind their back, police have a lot of tools to make you cooperate.

Just put your hands behind your back, and this is totally avoidable. Quit making excuses for dumbasses and obey authority.

Tell me what your local property crime solve rate is. Probably hovering around 10% range. Only reason to contact them is for a report for insurance.

Remember this when they do it and kill someone you love.

Also, it wasn't for running a red light.

It was for running a red light.
Then not stopping when the officer initiated a stop.
Then fighting with the police.

Everything that happened to him was caused by his actions.

Possibly but I'm sure it gets tiresome policing today's entitled and mouthy Karens in the 18-24 year old range.

Of course, he could have made the CHOICE to immediately stop and not escalate the situation. So many threads and comments about people of different races not immediately obeying the police and then here is a thread seemingly putting the blame on the police...

The only thing damaged would be some scuffing on the crash bars. That is a Harley Davidson Road King. Road Kings come standard with front and rear crash bars. The police edition may have some beefed up ones at that.
