I have taken my brother enough to VA clinic appointments, though, that I would not argue with you. At least, you military guys have a camaraderie unlike anything I have ever experienced, and regardless of branch, line of duty, age, or whatever else.

My team doesn’t have many t-shirt fans (our version of “sidewalkers”).
Our traditions and ways are so esoteric, most people who didn’t matriculate at our university find it far too enigmatic for bandwagoning ... if they didn’t experience it, they don’t get it (which I completely understand).
That said, I don’t have any problem with non-Aggie Ring wearing folks supporting Texas A&M University, provided they aren’t ugly and obnoxious when they do.

Actually, we don’t draw those students by default.
The school in ATX attracts those kids, which is mostly due to false information.
We’re very welcoming to most; we’ve just gotten a bad rap re: LQBTQ issues over the years.

Auburn doesn't have many sidewalk fans either because Alabama is so successful comparatively-speaking.

I'm pretty sure big schools can survive less than 10 percent of their athletic revenue being taken away. TV is oversold as a revenue stream. The gate makes far more for schools. TV money is nothing more than bonus money for large ADs.
Smaller schools would be hurt but big schools wouldn't feel it.

Alabama Athletics in total year 2017 reported 174.3 million dollars in revenue and when the bills were all paid a 15.6 million profit. We all know football pays most of the bills
Let's say you run off the sidewalkers and there's no media interest..kiss 43.9 mill goodbye which exceeded contributions by 10 million over the past year.
Don't forget the tax laws they are a changing and you won't be able to write those contributions off anymore snobs, so that amount might just be shrinking. I wasn't able to find income from the rights to trademarks (hats t shirts etc)so you'd lose a little more.
