What if I'm that idiot who trolls incessantly and has spent too many semesters at my school?

It seems stranger to me for someone to go to a school but refuse to cheer for them and instead cheer for a team that they enjoyed when they were younger.

Two of my kids go to PAC 12/Big 10 schools with strong if not top 5 historical programs and remain Texas fans. I'd find it strange if they ignored 10 years of following a program then ditched for a school they chose based solely on education.

Not necessarily. In most cases that may be the case but in my house they know I'm an Auburn grad (as is their mother) but 2 of my kids couldn't care less about sports and the other one is a Falcons and United fan.

I grew up a Wisconsin fan as both my parents and three of my grandparents went there. I still keep up with them and they’re my second favorite team. I went to USC. When they played each other in a bowl game a few years back I didn’t even think of rooting for the Badgers. You pull for your Alma Mater, period.

I would bet that the majority of fans who attended P5 games in the past were sidewalk fans. I say that because school enrollments were much smaller and college sports wasn't as important in the past. But someone still had to fill the large stadiums, so today's P5 schools should be thankful for sidewalk fans growing their fan base large.

In all of my adult years, I’ve only had 3 experiences of really obnoxious fans. The first was when I was in school and Tenn was the visiting team. Nothing bad- just loud and obnoxious from Friday night thru Sunday morning. 2nd was LSU fans visiting Tuscaloosa in 2011. Grown adults were yelling obscenities at little kids. I had never seen anything like it. The 3rd time was later that same year when we replayed LSU in New Orleans. Nothing bad happened- they were just loud and obnoxious. There wasn’t much better than having them silent on the way out of the stadium that night.

I was at the "Man Enough" game at Bryant Denny years ago when that damned Pat Dye said in an interview before the game that UGA was not man enough to beat Alabama.

UGA fans are massive assgaskets and one walked in to Rama Jama's, and in a loud voice asked was he man enough to come in here? I couldn't resist, I asked him do you stand or squat?

That got a laugh, he shut up but came on in LOL. Georgia fans are the WORST. That drunk bastard Dye talked them into a win that day, but on the way out of the stadium I ran into Herschel Walker, who was NOT an assgasket. Hell of a nice guy, took time with everyone that wanted to speak to him, he's a genuine good man.

I have heard that the absolute worst fans are Hawaii. As in, want to fight everyone and use racial slurs.

Then Miami and West Virginia.

There maybe, the ones that made that sugar bowl trip in 07 were all pretty cool people

I've read those stories as well. Regular season road trips to Hawaii are nightmares, from all accounts.

Have been to West Virginia and their fans are probably the least like the kind of folks I'd like to hang out with. Never felt threatened, though. Maybe I was just in a bad section

Then there's one other category. Those ones who spew Katrina jokes and get on all fours inside makeshift cages at their disgusting tailgating spots while mimicking the performance of fellatio on a corndog (maybe thinking they're playing Iowa or Nebraska for some bizarre reason?) and then shrieking at visiting fans to their 3rd world campus.

I am sure it happens, but I can't say I have seen visitors being given a bad time at Alabama. Not that I have witnessed, and it should not be tolerated.

A little good natured ribbing, like a coonass trap, is one thing, but you should never act like a damned baboon.

That goes for the visitors too.

There are a lot of stories about the locals assaulting visiting fans inside Aloha Stadium. It got really bad a few years ago, like people being robbed in the stands bad

I actually heard it from some 2003 Alabama fans.

Said that certain parts of the stadium were borderline unsafe.

Lots of:
“Go back haoli”
“You don’t belong here”
“Rednecks/hicks”.

A total opposite of the things they said about when they visited Oklahoma in Norman.

I'm guessing it comes down to how passionate a fan you were of the other team before deciding on a school. My kids were raised in a family preceded by 4 generations of Longhorns, their earliest memories include traveling to games etc..

To each their own I suppose.
