Sankey is not telling the truth and playing the game. There is zero chance the B1G and SEC haven't had internal discussions about breaking away from the NCAA

What happens when that happens?

Will there be any kind of a regulatory or oversight agency for these conferences if they leave the NCAA?

Delusional Texas fans think three teams left for the SEC, one to the Big 10, and one to the PAC 12 because competition was too tough in the Big 12/SWC.

Arkansas (SWC to SEC)
Colorado (Big 12 to PAC)
Missouri (Big 12 to SEC)
Nebraska (Big 12 to Big 10)
Texas A&M (Big 12 to SEC)

National Championships in Playoff era:
SEC - 6
Big 10 - 3
ACC - 2
Big 12 - 0

To be fair to Arkansas and Colorado, when they moved, they both believed Texas was moving to the same conference as well. So they don't even support your argument.

The others, Nebraska and Texas A&M especially, decided losing anyone else was better than losing to Texas.

Of course they all ran away from us.

Yeah after Mr. Slive came to us (a middling athletic school) and invited us to join the most prestigious Athletic Conference in the Country, our main concern was whether texass would think we were running away because they were so good at Football? Narcissistic much?

tbh I don't think Missouri ran from Texas. Missouri has no reason to hate Texas; we barely know each other.

Missouri is probably the biggest winner in all of this. You should be rotting in the Big 12 but Slive needed another team and when the lights came on after closing time, there you were.

To their credit, Missouri also voted against all the things that they rail on the Big 12 for today, unlike hypocrites Nebraska and Texas A&M, who voted in lock-step with Texas on everything.

It is true that A&M loves the SEC, so you got that part right.

Why do you suppose that Texas and OU weren't able to keep the Big 12 afloat without A&M and Missouri?

Texas and Oklahoma would have gone to the Big Ten had Sankey and the SEC said no. The TV contract that the Big Ten would have gotten with those 2 schools would have dwarfed the contract that the SEC would have without them. Sankey and the SEC recognized that and made the obvious choice despite all the whining from College Station. A&M could not, and did not deliver the TV sets in the State of Texas when they joined the SEC, adding Texas did.
Texas wasn't going anywhere ESPN didn't approve as long as the LHN contract was in place. That's why ESPN did the deal in the first place, so that they would have the leverage to block any move that wasn't in ESPN's interest. Since Fox has the Big Ten rights tied down into the next decade, threats of Texas going to the Big Ten would have been empty threats, at least until 2031. And, beyond that, the Big Ten was still pretty snooty about sticking to their criteria, up until the point that Sankey surprised them by taking Texas and OU.

That's true as to Colorado, but not so as to Texas. Back when Arkansas made the jump, the administration at Texas had made it very clear that they had no interest in joining the SEC, which they viewed as being beneath their dignity. Before Bob Bullock engineered the Big XII deal, Texas had been trying to get the Pac 10 to take them (Colorado wanted to jump, too), but Stanford consistently blackballed the move.

Missouri leaving the Big 12 was absolutely crippling, because there was no better program to replace them with, unlike A&M and TCU.

There were factions of admin at Texas that wanted PAC, yes. Athletics/Dodds wanted SEC, per former SEC commissioner Harvey Schiller from an article I've quoted many times here. Regardless, Arkansas knew Texas also moving to the SEC was a possibility, so it doesn't make sense to argue that Arkansas left to get away from Texas.

We used to be like brothers who fought like dogs but stood up for each other. Oklahoma should have never been invited without Oklahoma State. Some were arrogant but nobody was ever truly above anyone else. 10 equals regardless of their sports records.
