Today, everyone just wants their piece of the pie and damn the torpedos - it's win at all costs. And I realize it's always been that way but in the past you always had that healthy respect for your peers. I really think Texas and Aggies will destroy this conference as we know it.

I think what the OP is really getting at here is fear that TX and TAM can easily outspend everyone else in the conf

Well, they won something in 2022 and oh by the way, newcomers can't use "Ole Piss". That's for original members only.

The SEC was warned repeatedly
No warning was needed for me. I loudly opposed Texas and OU from joining the SEC but money grubber Stankey ignored most everyone. But ultimately, it was the college presidents and chancellors that approved the move so it's also on them.

If the Big 12 is so great, why did Oklahoma leave?

And do you really think the replacement schools are equivalent to or better than Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri, Texas A&M, Texas and Oklahoma?

And how do you spin this?

Without the NCAA, there's no tournament. March Madness is the main reason people are invested in basketball.

Maybe. But we wouldn’t fit well culturally. People already bitch about the “long” 2 hour drive from LR to Fayetteville. Frank made the right move as soon as he had the chance and we’re lucky he did. The biggest issue now is that we have a moron running the AD and a dysfunctional BOT that doesn’t care about winning.

Yeah well it was not at the time a conference to be in. OK and Horn left for what reason if the future was so bright?

tbh I don't think Missouri ran from Texas. Missouri has no reason to hate Texas; we barely know each other. Missouri is probably the biggest winner in all of this. You should be rotting in the Big 12 but Slive needed another team and when the lights came on after closing time, there you were. To their credit, Missouri also voted against all the things that they rail on the Big 12 for today, unlike hypocrites Nebraska and Texas A&M, who voted in lock-step with Texas on everything.

This Mizzou fan loathes Oklahoma and couldn’t care less about Texas. Okie are the biggest cheaters on the planet, and exist to service their big bros in Austin.

Also, the idea that the current cluster that comprises the Big 12 is equal to those who departed is pure trolling hilarity.

The conference was on life support for years afterward, and it took the PAC exploding to keep it remotely competitive.

How did I know that an Aggie would be the first to respond to that as if aggy matched the sec.

The SEC wont be around forever. It's already a different league.

Arkansas wasn't a culture fit in an all Texas conference either and certainly a political misfit.

Totally isolated and at a disadvantage.

Yeah, I’m not saying that we were a fit in the all Texas team SWC. All I meant is that going to the SEC made complete and utter sense for us. We are a Southern State, we fit in the SEC footprint, we were (at the time) competitive or higher in all major sports when we joined, and since joining the league are typically top 25 in overall AD revenue if we’re at 7-8 football wins in a year (which yes, has been bad lately but we’ve shown that we can without regard AD and coaching)

The only mistake A&M made was not leaving with y’all in ‘92. The SEC has been a perfect fit for A&M. It feels like we’ve been here all along, especially with all our main rivals here now. Just wish Arky would have been one of our perms, and not Missouri.

Yep. I would take y’all home and home every year over Mizzou.
