re: The playoff committee got the 4 teams right. It’s the seeding they got wrong.

The thing is having Ohio St and Michigan playing back to back game wasn’t appealing to anyone.

Well Bama had BoB calling plays and the bastard hippie running the D.

With that we would have beaten anyone.

Don’t believe me?

I'll decide later cockfricker, if you'd check my post history you would see I haven't posted once about who's the best teams in the country in months. Let alone posted anything related to the topic since UGA obliterated TCU.

I would posit that it had at least as much interest as UGA/TCU and certainly more than the last 40 minutes of the title game. According to Ohio State and Michigan fans the OSU/UM game is the only game of the season in which there is any interest at all so it would seem that the only game of the year with any interest at all would have some interest a couple of weeks after the first one. I would bet that a OSU/UM semi would have seen a sizeable TV audience....

By that logic, why shouldn’t USC have been in? I know it wasn’t a “squeaker”, but what’s the line of demarcation?

Because it wasn’t a squeaker and they lost 2 games

If you want the best product on the field, any of the top 5 SEC teams would have been much more competitive. I am not advocating for Alabama. I am simply saying that TCU did not deserve to be in that game and the end result proved it

Then did Michigan deserve to be there? They lost to TCU and never led.

I feel like I'm probably going to have to repeat this a lot.

Michigan played a poor game against TCU, who were playing out of their minds, and lost. Georgia played a poor game against Ohio State, who were playing their best game of the season, and still won. By the time TCU got to the title game they were out of gas, and Georgia got their shite together.

The seeding was right, it was just a tired team versus a team who finally played their best game of the season.

They certainly deserved to be there based on their season… they won the Big10. TCU did not win the Big12, a much weaker conference. The seeding was chosen to, in the minds of the committee, guarantee a Big 10 team in the finals. They were not about to let a second SEC team in

Bama should have been in ahead of Ohio St. and TCU.

I still believe Georgia would have beaten Bama in the final game, but those were not the best 4 teams in the country at the end of the conference playoffs.

After leaving Georgia out in 2018 and 2019 for losing 2 games each season, one each to the #1 team, frick that shite. Alabama deserved to sit this one out.

I agree TCU shouldn’t have been in the championship game. That’s actually the point of my post.

Again, all of this is rendered somewhat moot if Michigan doesn’t turn the ball over 4 times.

As TCU beat Michigan head up, the premise here is silly they weren't seeded correctly for whom they had.

How to treat Alabama, clearly one of the best 4, was a tricky issue and I've no problem with what was ultimately done.

Reread what I wrote.

I'm stating that Alabama was better than Ohio St and TCU. I think that's common knowledge.

I still think Georgia was the best team in the country.

1) GA
2) OSU
3) Tenner
4) Bama
5) TCU
6) LSU
7) Penn St
8) Clemson
9) Tulane
10) Utah/Washington?

Never would have happened but probably closer to the truth of it.

If we had expanded playoffs, the committee wouldn't have felt the pressure to avoid an Ohio State/Michigan rematch. If it happened, it would have happened in the semis, which would have been ok.

The truth is, OSU was the second-best team in the country. Michigan beat them because sometimes that stuff happens in big-time CFB rivalries. Therefore, they earn the nod in seeding.

I find it interesting that you can call a team that lost to its biggest rival at home in a revenge game by three touchdowns the second best team in the nation.

UGA was going to win it all, so I will start with that.

You can certainly make a case that OSU was better than TCU but TCU only had an OT loss in their title game, while OSU got throttled at home.

I think OSU beats Michigan in the semi-final and the title game finishes like the Peach Bowl.
