BDS is just a combo of Flashing lights and Pom poms, it’s pretty much a low energy LSD trip.
I have stayed in “The Zone” before though and it was awesome as frick.
BDS is rich in luxuries but poor in atmosphere in general. Most traditions in the stadium are relatively new-ish because Alabama wasn’t officially playing all their biggest home games in Tuscaloosa until 2000. 2003 marked the end of using Legion Field in Birmingham for home games. All home games have been in BDS since the start of 2004.
I don’t think BDS will be anything more than a big-game environment stadium because all the opportunities to create pre-cable-television traditions have been missed. The stadium will never get the opportunity to be that place to be for the experience because so many will just defer to enjoying watching it on television instead.

Who is the arbiter of this?

A lot has to do with stadium design as well. Iowa’s stadium is partially built in a hole below ground level so it holds the sound in. BHG is tight and high so the sound is held in like a funnel.

Based on what? That list seems like shite to me.
The list looks suspiciously like the dumbass list of best restaurants in each town. Actually thought some burger joint in Nashville is better than Mortons/Flemings/Ruths Chris, etc.

I have heard basically no sound for the second half of most games in the last 10+ years at the number one on this list
Which means this is fake news

Well the specific list is from a guy who has been making bad lists about college town stuff for several months now

Would not disagree totally. But the 2009 LSU game when Julio went down the sideline was the loudest stadium I have ever been In.
While I do agree 2009 was just different. Beating UT with Cody block was the loudest I’ve ever heard it.

Auburn too low. We are definitely lacking in amenities in the stadium, but noise we are not.

Michigan Stadium is not built well to keep sound in.

Oregon? VA Tech is too low. VA Tech has a hard core fan base that can rock that place.

2005 Va Tech/Miami entrance
That place was absurdly loud.

Success has diluted your good fans by attracting a bunch of people who just want to leech off your success

Student body, sure. Regular fanbase inside the stadium are the same people who have been there for years.
It's never been a regularly loud and rowdy crowd - in Tuscaloosa or Birmingham. We've always been Carolina Basketballesque in terms of atmosphere.
As noted, the loudest crowds were the good year under Shula and the first 3 years under Saban (07, 08, 09). People were starving to be good again.
Also, to be fair, 95% of our home games are absolute annihilations. We have 1-2 "close" home games a season, if that. It's not conducive to crazy atmospheres unless it's against a rival.

Oregon is loud. Stadium is designed that way too.

There have been other notable games where the crowd has been electric. The 2010 Florida and Auburn games were very loud. So were the 2011 Arkansas and LSU games. I remember the 2015 LSU game very vividly and once the final of the Arkansas-Ole Miss game was known, the volume in that stadium cranked up to an 11 and remained there for much of the game.

I can’t believe they have UCF ahead of teams like OK State Notre Dame and Florida State. Prisoners of the moment much? Boone Pickens Stadium against a ranked team is loud. Notre Dame when Clemson and UGA came to town was wild. Florida State still has a good fan base who will easily get up for any ranked game.
