I have 2 young daughters so they won’t be playing obviously (except maybe at Vanderbilt) but if I had a son I would no doubt allow him to play. I’m afraid my way of thinking is going by the way side. The next generation of parents are way less likely to allow their sons to play and it will get worse over time.

Last NCAA FB video game was 8 years ago. Coincidence? I think not. Bring back the game. It's the best way to build the fanbase.

I'll never forgive them for bringing this to an end. Hands down my favorite sports series of all time & top 3 favorite games of all time. I lost my ps3 + games in a flood when I lived in Houston. It still hurts to this day

It's not just football that's declining, it's sports in general. The 2018-19 school year saw an overall decline in sports participation for the first time in 30 years. Now there are a lot of factors which contributed to that but I'm fairly certain technology is playing a huge part in that. More and more kids are playing video games on their consoles, computers, or iPhones. Football and basketball both are seeing the biggest overall declines.

No way. Scholarship and NCAA rules about them were introduced to control the rampant open paying and professionalism of players, transfers, etc.

Do a quick study college football before about 1955. It was a free for all. If you limit scholarships you just guarantee under the table payment and benefits without limits or enforcement.,

Be careful what you wish for and give some thought to consequences before just spouting or parroting every idea you read.

Almost all cheating in college athletics recruiting boils down to the suppression of labor power amongst athletes creating opportunities for recognizing their value via alternative, untracked channels. You know the saying “where there is a demand, a market will materialize.” Well the demand is that the star players who have clear transactional value for their services and the market is untracked impermissible benefits according to the NCAA.

There is also the lack of commitment from the last few decades from the young people.

bullshite.

Athletes put in a lot more work now than they did years ago. A lot more freshmen come into college programs ready to star on Day One, even at QB. Do you think Jay Barker worked on his game as much in high school as Tua and Trevor Lawrence with all the 7 on 7's, QB camps, and film availability there is nowadays? Hell no.

There might not be any more stupid arse Junction, Texas, type practices where coaches try to run off half the team in 100 degree heat with no water breaks, but as far as productive year round work and dedication there's a lot more of it now than there was years ago.

Something else you don't see is team jackets, jerseys etc...In the 80s, 90s and 2000s people wore them everywhere. I hardly see people wearing apparel anymore, especially pro stuff.

Not sure. The younger generation seems more into soccer than football. Not sure why that is but seems more people under 25 watch soccer over football than I could imagine. Such a weak sport in comparison to me.

Pro franchises threaten to move when the public refuses to give them welfare money they already have, and when they do, the former leaves anyway.

F**k you. Georgia has the best football in the country given the size of our state. And, after living in LA and GA, I can guarantee you the LA is more of a trash a$$ state than GA. Your state actually is the armpit of the South easily.

At least LA is in the south....After the election GA was kicked out.

Great post, whoever downvoted is probably one of "those"parents who allows his kid to act a fool towards the coaches and is a helicopter parent. Something I've seen too much of in over 20 years combined officiating baseball & football here in the great state of Georgia.
