That’s probably because you live in trash arse Georgia. Nobody wants to support their loser teams.

Rule changes focusing on propelling offenses to huge numbers are doing way more to hurt the sport.

People bitched about 9-6, and now they'll deal with 60-57.
Woo, I guess.

F**k you. Georgia has the best football in the country given the size of our state. And, after living in LA and GA, I can guarantee you the LA is more of a trash a$$ state than GA. Your state actually is the armpit of the South easily.

I agree. There is also the lack of commitment from the last few decades from the young people. The parents are the results of granting instant gratification. Everyone gets a award for showing up. I want what I want and I want it now. It is gain with no pain. God help us all.

I grew up in the 60/70’s. NFL teams were “teams” as the players stayed on the same team for most of their career. A trade back then was big news. Free agency came along and wrecked that. Every NFL team has a totally different roster each year so who cares. Its all about individuals and their next better contract. Watch the “87 Super Bowl (giants vs broncos) and see how much has changed.
College football is going down the same path. Now we have the PORTAL and the OPT-OUT. Now its about “me” and not the team.

Until the COVID depressed ratings this year, the only real trend in decline was attendance and that is likely due to cost and TV access.

I don’t keep up with youth sport participation nor do I know where good numbers are kept on that front but there is your leading indicator for any decline on the horizon.

The Decline of Football in America

Modifying the stupid arse targeting rule will be a HUGE step in the right direction. Ejecting players on a non-intentional helmet to helmet hit is absurd. A penalty? Ok, that's fair, but an ejection is non-warranted.

Also, college refs are terrible compared to NFL refs. Why are NFL refs that much better than college? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to watch the play on the field and make the correct call.

In addition, why are things going to replay and the same incorrect call is being upheld? Especially targeting calls. There were TONS of non helmet to helmet targeting ejection calls upheld when the play went to review. That's why replay is there....to review something that may have been missed and to make the correct call when you can see the replay due to various camera angles of said play.

tl;dr: targeting is ruining the game, the refs in college are terrible, and use the replay to ensure the damn call is correct.

Facebook moms will kill the sport off at the high school level. They're not going to allow Paxson, Jackson, Braden, Kaiden and Leydon to play and the number of high school programs will plummet in the next decade. That's already begun.

Plus, college and pro football's audience is largely followed by conservative males. Therefore, it must be eliminated and all of its traditions and rituals stamped out in progressive America.

I’m not mad about it. Soccer is a great sport.
It takes the most skill of any sport in the world, but Football and Baseball are what you think of when you think of American sports. Basketball and soccer have turned into flop fest though, so I just don’t think I could enjoy them as much as I do football.

Jesus frick.

Fear mongering is too prevalent these days.

Everyone needs to chill out lol. My Facebook timeline is full of liberals and conservatives telling me that America is going to end in their own scenarios and I don’t need you fricks telling me how football is going to end lol

It does. What those guys do with a ball with their feet while sprinting full speed is insane. Throwing it is much easier than controlling it with your feet while sprinting. I mean you can dislike the sport, but it is very technical.

2021 parent: “This country was better when boys and girls said ‘mam’ and ‘sir,’ and Elvis was the biggest music star.”

1956 parent: “Who is this lecherous hillbilly who gyrates his hips on the Ed Sullivan Show?”

Also

1957 parent: “Hmm. Honey come take a look at this. Apparently some Ed Gein guy up in Wisconsin made a lamp shade out of human skin.”

Imo, sport as we know it, is going south....and it's picking up steam as it goes. I'm talking at ALL levels. Sure, there'll be a few soccer teams/leagues around the country, but it'll be insignificant by today's standards.
The things that made sport so attractive to kids/people in general, in the past are starting to subside (unless you can do it by punching a button on your smart phone or keyboard).
Too much hard work, too boring, too dangerous, etc. is becoming the answer.

This is true. Kids are losing interest because they are LAZY. Also gaming is blowing up. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gaming takes over sports and is what is on ESPN in 50 years. They already air a 2k league on tv with a bunch of fat dudes playing as imaginary characters and they announce it like its real life.
