The decline of football in America has been steady over the last decade. The boomers and Xs are the biggest fans of football and with the boomers dying out in a few decades, the racist/political overtones of the athletes , and increasing ticket prices; I don't see how it will survive. People are boycotting and losing interest.

Last NCAA FB video game was 8 years ago. Coincidence? I think not. Bring back the game. It's the best way to build the fanbase.

Also, the targeting penalties and other fouls that are killing the game. Hardly any kick-off returns now etc....

Times, they are a-changing. Social and political issues have always been expressed through sports. Doesn't matter what anyone happens to think of the argument today, or their position, the world is extremely restless and agitated and it is being reflected in this country and through the world.

The decline you speak about carries far more subjects than sports.

I think targeting, when applied properly, has changed the game for the better. I would not have said that 5 years ago but I do now.

I do think they should have passed other rules to level the playing field for the d. Like offensive targeting or lightening up oi calls over mutual contact.

Something else you don't see is team jackets, jerseys etc...In the 80s, 90s and 2000s people wore them everywhere. I hardly see people wearing apparel anymore, especially pro stuff.

Little league football is struggling in New Orleans. Used to be all playgrounds in Metairie had four teams and then all stars. And LL football has less injuries than soccer.. high school still seems ok...

By design. Football was the one thing in America that brought all races, backgrounds, religions and classes together. Can’t have that.

Once people wake up and realize they are dividing us on purpose it will be too late.

Sports in general are declining, and football is past its peak, but it will still be huge for many many years.

Soccer is inevitably going to take over America as well. America is trying to be like the rest of the world instead of being what made us great.

Pee Wee is where it starts. If you don't have a good Pee Wee league, your Middle and high schools aren't gonna be any good.

All spectator sports are seeing declining attendance, even prior to Covid. The advanced technology and affordability of televisions and the fact that kids are less active will continue to drive attendance down. Throw in the National Anthem kneeling, free agency, transfer portal, etc. and you have a recipe for further decline.

They said this a long time ago when I was a kid. People think baseball is boring, they will not embrace soccer to the extent they do football or basketball.
