The book on Austin Simmons

The good:
Great arm.
Nice guy.
With time, above average accuracy.
The bad:
To beat him you need just the appearance of a pass rush. Show it, or just scream “boo!” and he experiences CPTSD. He will get rid of the ball.
Austin doesn’t like to be tackled. Like, at all. But he also doesn’t like to run. Quite the dilemma.

Aside from yesterday he's been pretty good

He still threw for 340 yesterday
Ole Miss run D seemed stellar yesterday. ( I didn’t watch the game)

But, I saw him listed as one of the top 10 quarterbacks to go, though.

No run game whatsoever yesterday from Missouri which surprised me! OM defensive line and linebackers bottled it up all game.

Is a crayon coloring book

He's an excellent QB but our DL made your offense 1 dimensional, so it was easy for us to make the stops when necessary. The only thing we seemed to allow was the dink and dunk plays.

I am in no way dissing Ole Miss. The results are obvious.
I simply disagree with you.
He has not played at an excellent level. Not even close. He has been awfully inconsistent.
What bothers me the most is that there’s just no fire in him. If you go back and watch that game, you will notice he walks slowly onto the field and literally cannot wait to get off the field when the series is over. This happened all day long.
I’m not blaming the entire day on him. We absolutely sucked and your team dominated us.

I'm sure it was an emotional day for the guy.
Would you rather have Austin at QB or Manning?

Pocket presence is basically the measure of a great QB.
Frustrating to see guys with all the tools who just don’t have that moxie, but it’s a tale as old as time.

Austin, but that doesn’t mean that I have to ignore what I see.
He is not a top 10 NFL draft quarterback. He is not an excellent quarterback.
He is a young man with a lot of arm talent, and the potential to become great. He just hasn’t lived up to that potential yet. And the jury is out as to whether or not he can.

This was my exact assessment of him at Ole Miss prior to last season. He has the potential to be great but will he?
Anyway, for this season at least, he's in the top 5 of SEC QBs.

This is his first full season to actually play, basically a freshman in a junior’s body. There were a couple of times I wondered why he didn’t break pocket, I chalk up to experience and hopefully for him he can take that leap next year.

The first time I saw him in action was coming in for Jaxson Dart in the Georgia game. Jaxson had just sh*t the bed on two drives to start the game and was injured. Austin came in and in the face of a relentless Georgia blitz, calmly led the rebels 75yards’ for the first score. HE AINT SHY OR AFRAID TO TAKE A HIT. Missouri didn‘t lose because of him.

The whole team was just off. Drinkwitz coachs scared on the road, and the whole team seems to pick up the vibe. I can't stand it.

I watched the first three possessions of the game and knew we were in for a long game. Austin calmed everybody down and showed we could play football with Georgia. Watch the game again and then tell me different.

Simmons despise the stats didn't play good yesterday but we lost because OM stopped our run game cold. Roberts looked worn down after the last 2 weeks to me but credit OM coaches and players.

We got lucky he wasn’t picked off that drive on two different throws.
