I'm not 'consistent'? You're the one not getting it dude. If what I say is true, which it IS, and Texas has not been consistent for the last decade, then Texas hasn't been consistent for 100 years...in cfb years, that is.

The bottom line is, Texas has sucked for a long time. You had ONE decent year last year and suddenly think you're going to waltz into the SEC and compete against some very strong, perinnially strong teams and start winning champsionships. Based on what evidence?

I've not predicted we'll win the SEC or a title this year. I've said we're set up for a pretty decent run - this year and long term.

And yes, you aren't consistent: in one post you talk about Texas being down for a decade as proof that Texas will continue to suck in the SEC. In the next post, you disregard 2018 as if it's 50 years ago. So again, which is it? Does the past matter or not? Or is it only when it suits your argument?

but the real reason is they know Texas in the SEC can be a beast of a program

Personally, I think they CAN be a beast of a program - Texas has gobs of cash, influence, and their own TV network. They are a sleeping giant imo.

At the same time, it isn't always easy to wake a sleeping giant. Money isnt everything...are you guys even spending as much as Ole Miss this year?? Because there will almost always be an Ole Miss out there pushing in all the chips.

And with the playoffs, you're going to have to beat 2-3 UGAs, OSUs, Bamas to win a Title from here on out. It took Kirby 5 years of stacking & building an elite program before he finally broke through to the promised land. It's either that, or have a generational group a la Burrow and his stud receivers AND the right coaching staff.

Totally agree. Sure we have money but it's not like we're willing to spend 10x more than everyone else.

I'm eager to see how Ole Miss does this year. I think the conventional wisdom is that a team with significant elite portal talent generally won't beat teams comprised mostly of elite recruits developed out of high school. But Ole Miss has a chance to buck that thinking.

Luckily we don't play them.

2 of the next 3?

I’ll settle for one. Championships are damn hard to obtain. Alabama’s run notwithstanding.

They sure looked much improved against your spring offense. Actually, they looked pretty damned terrible in the parts that I have seen.

Kentucky will beat Texas. That's the one you should win but don't.

When there is perfect alignment between boosters, HC, AD, and administration, there are 5 schools that can win big on near autopilot, even without an elite coach: USC, Ohio St, Texas, UGA, and Florida.

Im beginning to realize that Florida truly is a dysfunctional athletic department who can only win with an elite coach who can overcome it.

So Texas won't win a title in the SEC because more teams in the SEC have won a title. But, how did more teams win a title? Is "6" the magic number of teams? This argument makes zero sense.

I'd argue it's more difficult to win a title in the B1G because you know, it hardly ever happens, and when it does, it's Ohio State or Michigan.

What part of what I just said would not indicate that if more teams are playing at a NC level and have NC talent it is naturally harder to win it all. You have to go through a gauntlet in the SEC. Every year that BAMA went into the playoffs they were the most battle-tested in the group for that reason. I would also suggest that if you wanted the easier path to a playoff berth the Big 12 is that conference. But you know that.

I understand what you’re trying to say. I’m telling you it doesn’t make sense. It’s contradictory. If what you said was true, fewer SEC programs would have won titles. It’s a Yogi Berra-ism. “Nobody wins titles in the SEC anymore, it’s too hard to get through all the title winners.”

Texas got the easier SEC schedule. They screwed OU who got the tough schools other than Ga.

Dang that’s spot on

And I think UTrans doesn’t have the hardest schedule but it’s no cake walk
They got their asses kicked by terrible Arkansas teams in recent years and only have beaten Aggy 50% of the time in the last 50 meetings
Throw in their Daddy Oklahoma who owns them and Georgia
Then Michigan….

If UTrans gets to Atlanta they have a very good team and deserve it

But I don’t see that happening

I think UGA and Michigan will be 2 for sure losses. Now between OU, Arkansas, and A&M I think you’ll lose 1 of those as well…hell I wouldn’t be surprised if you lose 2 of those considering that Arkansas and A&M will be very emotional road games.
