For various reasons, the talent “bank” Saban had during the middle years of his Alabama reign started to fall off. No longer did he have 4 tailbacks with NFL top round draft prospects or 4 #1 NFL WRs on one team. Some of his teams from 2009-2020 were ridiculously loaded. By the time Covid was over, talent started to spread out more inside the conference. The conference is stronger today than anytime during Saban’s years cause more teams are competing. Most of Saban’s time at bama it was only either LSU or Ga that could compete with Auburn occasionally catching them.

LSU is so frickin desperate it’s funny.
Hell, Rupp didn’t want any black players. He was basically forced to sign one.
Clearly a racist. Finally signed a black player that turned out to be a rapist.
As one guy said Ky basketball “it was like starting a hockey league in Texas” during Rupp’s years. He was on his way out before schools got serious about BB.

Indy held & PI as much as Miami.
CBB was better in the ‘70s & ‘80s when guys had to declare a hardship after their 3rd year to go pro. Today, the NBA skins all the talent off after 1 & throws away what they realize they don’t need.
Alcindor played 4 years for heavens sake, James Worthy & Jordan 3, Magic 2, etc. Today’s teams wouldn’t have a chance.
