I hate these kind of topics because they make me defend Tennessee. Not the Vols but the state.

Memphis is a cesspool but the rest of the state is a great place to live or visit. Gatlinburg will be full of tourists. The mountains are gorgeous. Most folks I’ve encountered are friendly and kind. Tennessee is a whole lot like Kentucky. Mountains, lakes, culture and patriotism. I’d take Tennessee any day of the week versus the Northeast or left coast.

These types of ranking only reflect the bias of the person presenting it.

Yup to the post above.

You should always read the headline with "according to the left" at the end. It then makes a lot more sense.

Smoky Mountains are beautiful this time of year, I don't know how anyone could argue otherwise.

Memphis sucks and Nashville has been ruined, but parts of Tennessee are very nice.

It’s pretty much like every state in the south. There’s areas to avoid, but if you can afford it there’s plenty areas to make a great life.

As already stated, avoid Memphis and Tennessee is one of the best states there is. During Covid when Kentucky’s Andy Beshear was getting all authoritarian, I was seriously looking to move there. Awesome state, sans UT.

When I entered the Navy in 1981, Spring Hill, TN was a 2 traffic light town. 1100 residents. Went to visit kin last year, and the population was over 60K. Nashville has already swallowed up Franklin and Spring Hill is next.

I hate these things.

They often do things like equate spending levels with education, and other forms of government control = being best.

And then crime is about where you live and can be bad in every single state.

I can live anywhere in the US and Tennessee is in my top3.

Remove Memphis from the equation and how do they stack up? I'd venture to guess the two cities where there are actual SEC teams are relatively safe compared to say, Baton Rouge or some other locations around the SEC. Just an assumption though.

Crime is way down in Memphis. Nashville is starting to see some of the same issues. Knoxville has always had serious drug problems.

Tennessee might be the best state in the South. I can’t really name a close second.
