Tennessee received the lowest score in the country for "quality of life" in a 2026

Key Criticisms and Quality of Life Factors
Crime and Health: The CNBC study gave Tennessee an "F" grade (64 out of 290 points) for quality of life, citing high rates of crime, low worker protections, limited inclusiveness, and high drug-related death rates highlighted by the United Health Foundation.
Be careful Alabama and Arkansas fans traveling to games. Good idea to have water, snack, and your preference of self defense on hand.
Infrastructure and Traffic: Residents frequently report heavy traffic congestion, poor public transit options, and road maintenance issues across major metro areas like Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga.
Fall is in the air, so the climate will be nice. The TN sucks song is always a nice jiggle in any weather.
Climate: Summer temperatures bring high humidity and sweltering heat, which inspired the 2002 alternative country song "Tennessee Sucks" by Ryan Adams.

Remove Memphis from the equation and how do they stack up? I'd venture to guess the two cities where there are actual SEC teams are relatively safe compared to say, Baton Rouge or some other locations around the SEC. Just an assumption though.

Ehh, that's Brian Adams, not Ryan Adams.

One of these is not like the other.

You are full of crap! The only thing I was unhappy with about my trip to Knoxville 2 weeks ago was the final score. UT fans are just fine.

Haven't seen the entire list but I can almost guarantee I would rather live in the states CNBC doesnt like vs the ones they like.

It's a study of the whole state.

How would one even assign a rating to such a ridiculous and subjective measure?

Then why are you singling out Knoxville???

Hard to believe since UT was the first to recognize messed up pronouns

WTF? Tennessee literally gave them one of America’s greatest cities and still it’s not enough.

Come pick me up is the only good song Ryan Adams ever made.
Randy Rogers Band cover of that song was 10x better.
These are Irrefutable facts.

Yet people flock to the state to live and for vacation. These rags will do anything to paint red states in a bad light, but the proof is in the migration data.

As much as it pains me to say it, Tennessee is a state I could live in. Not knoxville or Nashville or Memphis, but other parts of the state.

My sister lives in Tenn....never heard her complain at all. It is like most States...there are good and bad places. I guarantee you if you go to Hollywood and Compton, you would think they are in very different States. Like Atlanta vs Rome Georgia. Very, very different.
