Using NIL to induce recruits wasn't a bridge too far? The NCAA had a pre-existing rule against doing that, which Tennessee apparently violated and then fought after the fact of being investigated.
If anything, the new 5 for 5 NCAA rule is the bridge too far. The NCAA changed eligibility rules in such a way that it gave the class of 2022 another year of eligibility, but then they said it didn't apply to the class of 22. Then when they got sued, the SEC stepped in and tried to modify the 5 for 5 rule by saying they only had a problem with players who tried to move on to the NFL, which they wouldn't have done if they'd known the rule was changing. Nothing logical about that.

Even if you comply with the judges orders from a Louisiana judge that will rule the NCAA and Conference and schools of the conference cannot punish LSU for breaking rules, LSU is still breaking rules.

It would be a waste of my time to try to defend an organization that has become tits on a bull. If we were defending the NCAA, you couldn't find anyone over here to offer a counterargument.
If the SEC legally wins the opening salvo Thursday, you can bet your bottom dollar more NOs are coming soon to an SEC school near you. Oh yeah.

It's the exact principle. The students arguing their case have the right to dispute this rule in court, and the court made an appropriate ruling. The NCAA singled them out for unfair exclusion from the 5 for 5 rule. The scale and scope of legal disputes don't change the principles of justice and fairness. Plus, Tennessee got caught breaking a pre-existing rule. If anything, Tennessee is the one ignoring NCAA rules in these two cases, not LSU.
And the SEC rules being created after the fact are basically an acknowledgement that the NCAA rule unfairly excluded the class of 2022.
