I believe him, and I would personally pay to see it. But here's the thing: the rogue judge has got to rule for Kiffin on Thursday. Without that decision, Kiffin is going to chicken out.

I remember about a year and a half ago when the NCAA started an investigation into the University of Tennessee for violating the rule against use of NIL in recruiting HS athletes. The state of Tennessee filed a lawsuit with a federal district judge based in Knoxville, got an injunction to stop NCAA enforcement of the rule against NIL recruiting inducements. I don't seem to remember UT's president having a problem with that or threatening any new SEC rules that would be used against her own institution.

Surely you have figured out by now that the SEC wants to go where no NCAA dare tread these days. The Conferences want to flex, and they want law and order of some kind in the sport. I think they are more than willing to die on this hill.

That's totally different. That was two states (Virginia and Tennessee) arguing at the Federal level.
This is a couple of football players with LSU backing, going to state court across from the stadium.

Sometimes individual teams like the law and order, sometimes they don't. From what I can tell, it depends on whose ox is getting gored. Ms. Plowman didn't like the NCAA rule back in 2005 so she teamed up with the state and sued the NCAA. Now she sounds gung ho to fight the courts and punish another SEC team in support of an NCAA rule.

It's the same exact principle. The NCAA made a rule, University of Tennessee didn't like the rule when it was applied against them, so they teamed up with the Atty general of Tennessee and sued the NCAA in local district court. They wanted to overturn a rule so they sued the NCAA. The main difference I see is that in the current case, the NCAA was out of line and the court ruling was justified.

Or it could simply be a bridge too far. I have no doubt the SEC has hit a saturation point with this stuff.

There are like 30 plaintiffs in this specific suit; roughly half are football players.

The court order is to not get punished for breaking the rules. So you are proving the point LSU is breaking the rules. You are citing you will comply with a local Louisiana judges ruling to not be punished for breaking the rules.
