NEWS: Tennessee Chancellor Donde Plowman, president of the SEC's executive committee, tells ESPN the league will enforce its rules regarding NFL players trying to return to college. "We are prepared to defend our rules and our authority to defend our rules." She adds: "This is not a rule we will budge on."

quote:

"I have not been in conversations with anyone from LSU since we left the meeting," Plowman told ESPN, referencing the meetings in Birmingham last week. "They were there. They were in the room when the vote was taken on the penalties. So they know."

When asked if those penalties could escalate to LSU being suspended from the league or kicked out, Plowman said that would be an "extraordinary step" and cautioned getting ahead on decisions that have yet to be made. She then referenced the SEC handbook by saying: "That would be a huge step, but obviously that's in there as a possibility."

She said she hopes that "people can come to their senses" and "avoid something that would be really unfortunate for college football."

What's the issue here?

The SEC keeps saying they'll enforce the rules, Lane keeps saying they'll abide by the rules.

Where's the disconnect?

The disconnect is that the rest of the conference has completely lost its mind on all things Kiffin so they're all convinced that LSU has already played a game and played NFL players.

I'm guessing the SEC Presidents don't think Lane will abide by the rules

It’s going to be hilarious to watch LSU bend the knee after all the chest thumping from the fanbase

Lane is going by the court. The SEC members are saying no NFL players, at all.

Is the player in question not currently practicing with LSU? Regardless of whether he is ruled eligible or not, he is barred from playing for an SEC team

She said they would DEFEND their ability to enforce the rules.

Hence why they have to go to court.

Just like the NCAA

Do you think they are going to ignore the court?

LSU knows the entire SEC is against them. They really don't think the conference is willing to kick them out.

For obeying a court order?

No I don’t think we will be kicked out for obeying a court order

Though I welcome the monetary damages we will receive if y’all do.

If these players were going to any other schools, nothing would be said.

It's all posturing. These little silver spoon born punk ADs aren't going to do anything that will cost their university money and hurt their bottom line.

Is LSU really dumb enough to go through with this? We know their idiot fans are. I have a hard time believing that the LSU administration will go against the entire conference.
