Ole Miss beat themselves.

Is that how it goes, Bama fans?

uhh..he lost 3 of the last 4 to Ole Miss, and if not for a strip of the ball as Bo Wallace was crossing the goal line, if would be 5 of the last 6.

hate the Mullen hire as much as any Gator

Who the hell did you think was coming to UF? Knute Rockne? There is way too much competition out there these days. I mean, you guys should at least play to a draw with FSU as far as coaching hires go. Taggart has roots in Florida but so does Mullen. Can’t be that bad.

He was the last Ole Miss quarterback to lose to Mullens.

I think it's entirely possible to be thankful for what he did, and hope he doesn't have success at Florida. He's the enemy now, it's not like he went to Ohio State, he went to a school in the same conference that's on our schedule next year.

I've seen way more State anger towards Stricklin because he's a State guy from birth who did us dirty.

Mullen himself said leaving State to go to Fla for the same position was a lateral move

Meh, after next year y’all won’t see him for years. It’s much better than say Gus going to Arky.

I totally get your dislike of Stricklin. I would feel exactly the same way.

As far as how good this hire is going to be, we will just have to wait and see. I know every fan base has a more intimate understanding of their own coach but the facts remain and he got you guys to places and heights that you'd never seen before.

Back when he was our offensive coordinator we would get pretty frustrated with him at times but it's no coincidence I think that the year after he left our offensive production fell by 10 points per game. We still had Tebow and granted we did lose Percy but it was obvious that something was broken with our offense as soon as Mullen left.

I remember when the Bears carried Tommy Tubberville to Auburn in his pine box... No hard feelings there.

I liked Coach Mullen and will always be grateful for the excellent things he did here at State. He smartly built our program on our strengths which was a blue collar, developmental, we are going to out work the other team attitude. It worked here.

I doubt that it will work at UF. His offense is very complicated and it takes time to implement it. Hence most of your players at State were red shirted. That will not cut the mustard in Gator Land. Fan base does and will not have the patience to allow it take hold. Gator faithful expect results yesterday. They will not allow him the time he needs to be successful. Time line you are looking at will be 4-6 years, he will be gone after three years.

Other than September 29, 2018 (I hope we beat the hell out them) I hope he wins and wins big. My fear is that he will not win and will struggle. Then the Gator fan base will have the patience of a gnat and CDM’s tenure in G’ville will end sooner rather than later.

Just my two cents on this though.

Only big loss was Copeland. We expected one to leave if Shannon wasn't kept and others seem to be told to head on out. No point keeping kids we can't use. He is recruiting players we didn't target before. We will see how it plays out. Not to worried till signing day. We need more defensive targets though. Need serious depth at LB and safety. So short in those positions we need at least two more Lbs for sure.

He offered a 2* WR today. Not like a DeRunnya Wilson 2*. Like a 5'11" 2* with a 4.6 40.

To answer the thread, almost all of us love Mullen and wish him well. I hope he wins every game other than the ones where he lines up across from State.

He did great things in Starkville. But I'm also excited about the potential of having a staff that recruits with as much effort as they coach. I think he had probably gotten near his ceiling here, just because of some of the core staffs laziness on the recruiting trail. That being said, being ranked number 1 and having some top tier football teams isn't a bad ceiling.

He's a lazy recruiter overall. He does develop said players very well though. But remains to be seen how that works at UF. He won't have the patience that State fans have. He'll have to stop letting his assistants do all of the recruiting or he won't be at UF long. Different world as far as expectations.

Grinded.
