Who are you trying to convince that Mullen wasn’t a good hire? We are on the same page, I would have much preferred Taggart, but there is nothing I can do about it. The moment we hired Stricklin everyone should have known he was going to do everything he could to get his boy here. Well he did it, he better be right or Stricklin and Mullen will be out on their arse begging State to take them back. With Cohen and Moorehead, you guys probably got the better end of the deal, sad.

You hired a coach y’all hated because he beat us. I would leave the coach smack talk alone.

You do realize that before Mullen, State was the "shite opponent," right?

Mullen won’t win a natty anywhere. He can’t recruit well enough to win a natty.

You are correct my friend and he will score points and develop players but we are talking about apples and oranges as far as expectations and you guys have to be fed up with what has been put on your field. Gators need this fixed immediately and with Kirby building a beast in GA and muschamp doing well in SC I just don't see this hire getting you back to the glory days of Urban and the OBC.

I hate the hire because you assholes will assume that my username is a reference to him. Otherwise, dude is going to bring us championships and Mississippi State doesn't really have any reason to hate him as far as I can see.

I hate that people are just attacking your rebel fandom instead of answering the question because it’s a great question.

My theory- MSU fans seem to be less meta than some fan bases, so I think they are genuinely let down he left them. That is a boring fricking answer and other fanbases would go out of their way to not show that exact sort of vulnerability, but MSU fans are salt of the earth people like that.

Not turning on him but not mad he's gone. There were a few years I wish he would've left. I always felt like he under achieved, even in our good years... did not prepare his team or make good calls in big games. It was weird and frustrating as hell.

We are thankful for what he built and now JM will take us further while the sinking ship in oxford continues to have players jump off

You forgot to list that he has an extremely punchable face (even more so when he makes some conservative, boneheaded decision late in a game against a ranked opponent).

Well we can point out his flaws and not feel stupid now....also I would say more people hate Scott Stricklin more than we hate Dan. We got 4 years more out of him than I thought we would.

Mullen will get results but it won't be overnight. Gotta be patient with him.

Not talking to the players and having a proper goodbye to the school was my issue. He could have been classy and rode out a hero but he snuck out and dropped a thank you not a week later.

Other than that I like the guy, he did a ton for the program.

I don't see it as turning on him for the most part, just people willing to point out and agree with others who pointed out the flaws he has. When he was my coach I'd defend him, but not now. Bottom line he checked out the month of Nov outside the Bama game. He coached the game of his life in that one but froze up the last 5 minutes and didn't give his players a chance to win.

The folks who are angry will be over it the end of September. Hopefully we come out with a win and then it's 5 or 6 years before we play them outside of a SECCG matchup, and if we get there I think any ill will would be long gone. I don't think he will but there by the time they roll back on our schedule, but that's just my opinion.

I think Mullen is a dick, just like most of these high priced coaches that everyone wants to hire these days. The world of college coaches and the big bucks they get has gotten more than a little bit out of hand. I am old now and my team is probably gonna suck for the rest of my life, so I think I'd rather spend my Saturdays playing with the grands from now on. It will be good to get away from the hatred of this fandom BS. It has gotten out of hand too.

I did not have a problem with Freeze at first until he said if anyone has evidence on our program please send it the compliance dept and we are an open book here at Ole piss.
The whole time he was buying box lunches. Would have like to see the talent he bought when it came to the hookers. He did buy some good players for the football team

You may be mistaking our hatred for Stricklin. When all is said and done, and this very likely by the hire we made, Scott May have done us the biggest solidnin the history of doing solids by hiring Mullen. Got an overpaid ego maniac off our backs. Scott has poached from his alma matter twice now to advance his own career and that not cool regardless of who you are. His only thing he ever did by himself was hire Rick ducking Ray and that was an abortion. They are both your problems now so good riddance.
