Then it must be so.

Whoever ends up at LSU, Florida, etc will have a ton of work to do in December and January saving a roster for next season.
Who gets poached from the Buckeye staff?

He can either stay at Ole Miss and struggle to make it to the title game or come to LSU and coach for a title every few years.
The choice is his.

I love how everyone knows what Lane is going to do, thinks this is what Lane should do, etc etc… I look forward to the day for the guy to actually make up his own decision instead of having all of us idiots try to guess. This writer knows jack just like everyone else.
This is really the only reasonable response to these threads.
I’m tired of all this cope from Ol Miss. He may stay. He may go. But he is going to leverage the shite out of his position and do what is best for him and his family.
This is really a tiresome topic.

I think it mostly depends on how deep into the playoffs ole miss goes.
What a retarded reason to choose a job.

Hard to see PSU poaching the Vandy coach two times in a row, especially considering they just fired the last one they poached.
To Penn St's credit, they dealt with 11 heard of mediocrity.

Right now I don't think Florida is a better destination unless they change their AD. They've been coasting for a long time now without putting some money into things they should.
I'm not sure how well Lane would fit with the Penn State culture.
Ole Miss is a good spot for him. Why leave?

You have to consider how the timing plays into all of this. If Ole Miss makes a deep playoff run, is Florida or LSU or whoever else is supposedly hiring him next going to sit around with no coach until mid January while half their roster transfers and no one is recruiting for the upcoming signing day? I'm saying even if he wants to leave Ole Miss the timing isnt great.

I don't see why he wouldn't try the NFL again if he got a shot at it.

Kiffin is in an ideal spot at this stage.
He’s built a program into a viable playoff contender playing in the SEC, I haven’t seen/heard too many cases where he can’t get the guys he wants playing on his team, and about half the conference is pining away wishing he’d come to their school.
It doesn’t sound like he’s hurting for money.
The only thing that has traditionally been predictable about Kiffin is his unpredictability but if the guy has finally seen and seasoned enough to have a different perspective on things, why the hell would he walk away from what he’s managed to build and has going at this point in time?

Was there a similar pitch for Brian Kelly a few years ago?

He makes almost twice as much as the Giants head coach and right around the league average. It would have to be the perfect organization that would easily set him up for success or him being one of the better paid head coaches in the league.

This makes sense if you don't know anything about this team.
This is not the "if it can't be done this year, it can't be done" year.
Well, I likely don't know as much as you do about the team. But I know the types of doubts that can creep into a person's head at points of failure. I've seen in the organizations I've managed for 30 years. Losing a big deal or contract or a critical game can open the door for doubt in leaders at any level. Maybe not with Lane, and maybe there won't be a big loss. We'll see.
