Also, if past success is an indication:

LSU has missed going to a bowl game TWICE since 1994.
In 16 of the last 18 seasons, LSU has had a winning record and gone to a bowl game, winning 11 of those 16 bowl games.
In addition, LSU has finished in the Final Top Ten 9 times since 1996.
Wew have also been to the BCSNCG three times, winning it all twice, and gone to the SECCG 5 times, winning it 4 times.

NO OTHER SEC team can match all these accomplishments in the last 20 years.

Alabama and UF both disagree.

We still have more titles in the past 4 years than anyone in the SEC has ever had, answer is obvious. Bama#1, followed by who, a toss up between 4 or 5 other schools.

Swap A&M with Tenn and it's a good list

Meat Market by Bruce Feldman, and he's right to an extent. Once players actually visit campus, that stigma largely disappears. It's getting them to visit that's the hard part (especially when they have recruiters for opposing SEC schools bullshitting them about how WAYCESS Ole Miss is).
thank you, thats the book. Your comment is just more detailed than mine. I just wanted to make that remark that when reading the book they talked about how it definitely was a factor in getting people to visit, and it was a question by African American parents... it also said that once they got them to visit, they would show them the "beauty" of the ole miss campus

Joker - fair enough. A&M has a long way too go so I can see that opinion. Tenn needs to get something going quick though.

The thing that's going to make things interesting in a few years is that Tennessee is starting to produce more and more HS talent.
Thats another thing that makes this question so hypothetical. A large part of my argument for LSU is the talent, but the state wasn't nearly as talented 30 years ago. Who's to say it will be the same 30 years from now.

I think we will. We've got great facilities that will officially open in the fall semester but are already in use. One recruit took all the virtual tours online and said when he saw ours there was no comparison -- he committed before even setting foot on campus.

Our 2014 class is full of in-state talent and Vol legacies and these guys are amazing.

We need a presentable season to hold onto things but for once I'm excited about where things are going. Jones thus far has brought a Bruce Pearl quality back to Vol country and it's exciting to watch.

"per capita" argument is dumb. Louisiana could send 1% more per capita to the NFL than Texas, but if they have 1/4th the population, LSU's talent pool is still vastly smaller than Texas A&M's, and they will never recruit better in east Texas than A&M, so throwing that in to the argument makes no sense.

UA has been to the SECCG 8 times, won it 4 times.
3 BCSNCG appearances, 3 wins.
We might equal the top ten finishes if you take it back to 1992.
Missed going to a bowl game 3 times because of a losing record since 1985.
12-5 bowl record since 1991.

ETA: Forgot to mention our national championship in 1992.
