I do know this, MSU got a ton of talent out of Alabama for years and still do. Pretty sure a lot of those guys grew up Crimson fans or Auburn football fans but again, always had lots of good ones out of Alabama most likely because we love our baseball.
We lost a lot of kids that we used to sign to State and Ole Miss at the end of Well's era and during Gaspard's. Then, Auburn started signing those kids (Bohanan, as a matter of fact).
We haven't locked it all down (and never will), but we sign more of those kids now and have signed really good players out of Atlanta and various enclave's that Bohanan has good working relationships with (Canadian baseball, for one).

I think both Bama and Auburn have made steps in the right direction in your baseball programs. The SEC has only gotten more brutal now. The days of going 22-8 in conference play are probably gone.
Absolutely. I believe the last 3 seasons there has been a SEC team in the CWS with a conference record of between 14-16 and 16-14. It's insane.

Yeah and while there will be an occasional 20-10 win conference team, maybe a rare 21-9 team, your post is accurate. Don’t get me wrong, there will be 19-11 and 20-10 teams but the Sec is getting so much better in baseball top to bottom that 14-16 conference win teams will continue to see the CWS because we will win enough out of conference games and our RPI now will be sick.

It’s right around the corner. Just glad we’re gonna have a season and hopefully not a lot of postponed or cancelled games.
The Cardinals tricked the Rockies into giving up Nolen Arenado and $50 million for a bag of baseballs, so things are looking up!

Only problem there is that you won’t be playing 70-75 games. This is college, not MLB but I get your point.
Can you really call it "baseball" when the bats aren't made of wood? I guess you can, but it's not the same game. It's something else.

Believe it or not I agree with you. Baseball was designed for wooden bats but we both know it’s not gonna change from what we have now so.....

It could change. Pros use wood, elite high school teams use wood. It's really weird that college doesn't. Instead they use aluminum bats tweaked to simulate the performance of a wood bat. Why go to all that effort instead of using the real thing? Do aluminum bat manufacturers sponsor lots of college baseball teams or something? This seems like the kind of thing where that sort of corruption would exist beneath the surface, but I admit there's a lot I don't know about college baseball.

I was hoping they'd cancel baseball again. Damn it. There's still hope though with these new strands popping up left and right.

One other thing, this is just my opinion but I love the sound of a wooden bat hitting a baseball hitting, but an aluminum bat hitting a baseball sounds almost like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. Aluminum bats turn something beautiful into something grotesque.

Like I said, I personally wish we’d go back to wood bats, the way the game was intended. I just don’t see it anytime soon but hopefully we will one day.

The SEC West is going to be stupid this year.

Strengths - We are Vanderbilt.
Weaknesses - Not enough scholarships.

Hitting will definitely be the weakness for Texas. Has been for probably 16 years and looks to be again, although they're hopeful some grad transfers can help with that.
One of Texas's stud freshmen from last year that was setting up to be Closer long-term needed Tommy John. Other than that, the starting rotation should be good for at least Friday and Saturday, and the bullpen looks like it can probably hold it's own.
I'm expecting third in the Big 12, maybe second, and hopeful for a regional host

LSU strengths will be weekend starters: Hill, Marceaux and Labas. Bullpen is loaded as well.
Offensively, we will depend on some young bats like Dylan Crews, a freshman compared to Bregman, and sophomore Cade Doughty. Wildcard is a big, athletic kid at first base, Tre Morgan. First three weeks will show whether this team can be a Super Regional team or a real CWS contender depending on the bats.

quote:Look for the committee to ignore RPI this year since the Big Ten will not be playing any non-conference games (which will render RPI meaningless for them).

As to my team, we lost two pitchers to last year's shortened draft, so there are question marks there, but Childress usually comes up with answers on the mound. The real question is, whether we will hit any better than 2019. Didn't get enough of a sample size last year to know whether the new hitting coach would make a difference, but if we don't get better at the plate, it will be a a long season grinding through this conference.

Cold. Up here in Missouri, our team looks cold right now.

I knew we were starting off with Texas, but I didn't realize our next two games were TCU and Texas Tech. It's pretty cool to be playing the 3 best teams in the state opening weekend.

It’s going to be an interesting season. Every team in baseball is going to have an older more experienced team than last year thanks to the limited draft and extra year.
For Ole Miss I would expect us to pick back up from last year with a strong rotation and pen. We should also look good in the field and in the box assuming we have an answer at ss.

We look pretty good up and down the lineup, and our pitching was good last year in the abbreviated season, so hopefully 2019 was a one year anomaly for our pitching. Cause we got shelled.

Dear God please stfu. Gamecock baseball team is loaded with pitchers and bats this year. We can actually compete against the best again.

Just looking at D1 Baseball's ranking and the SEC is stacked. All these teams are ranked.
Florida
Vanderbilt
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
Arkansas
LSU
South Carolina
Tennessee
Auburn
I have said it before and I will say it again, conference play will be a bloodbath this season.
