You think they would stick Kansas and Iowa State in a second round matchup? I would think they split up the conference opponents as much as possible.

I get that the tournament is can be dictated by how hot a team gets, obviously... but looking at those brackets I could definitely see a scenario where there's an all-SEC Final Four.
Very unlikely, I admit, but that would just be insane if it happens. Auburn's bracket (based on this) is the only one where there's only one team that would have to make it... and the Midwest bracket would have several opportunities.

But don’t you think something should count for how you’re playing recently?
For OU, it doesn’t matter you’ve lost 4 straight by a combined 83 points and 9 of last 12. You beat a 8 loss Arizona team 3 months ago so that’s all that matters
That’s like Bama beating a big non conference in W2 and losing every game in Nov and arguing for a playoff spot

Bama was struggling heading into the NCAAT last year, and we all know how that turned out.
Whole season matters for getting in…then the chips fall where they fall.

Tournament committee pretty explicitly says that doesn't matter

I cant figure out where my Wildcats are going to land. They have 8 Q1 wins but 7 losses. They just cant get healthy at the guard spot right now.

We are freefalling with all these poor losses.

I'm worried the terrible SEC officiating that "let's them play" is going to set us up for failure in the tourney. We are going to be used to getting away with all the contact and then the non SEC officials are going to put a stop to it and put the SEC teams in foul trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if half of them are out the first weekend.

This year could be different and it'll be interesting to keep an eye on. If a non 1 seed wins, they'll have to beat some good teams, possibly two #1 seeds.
Solid work SoG

UCLA, Grand Canyon or McNeese...y'all convince me that one of them can get StJ out of the first two rounds, please.

Well we certainly won’t be in this discussion for at least 2 more years.

The Johnnies are riding on their strong defense. Their offense isn't great. UCLA also has a really good, top 20 defense. I don't know that St. John's could score enough to win that one with the offense they have.
Still, I don't want any part of the fighting Pitinos.

Loving your bracket break down. The analysis and insight you provide in regard to Missouri is really appreciated. I can tell you're a guy who knows ball.
Thank you as always for the hard work SOG. Looking forward to seeing your thoughts come this time next week.

Caught a UConn game a couple of weeks ago that was being called at the other end of the spectrum and I think the tournament will be called tighter.

I wonder if we will get in

Rugby on hardwood allowed one game and then freeze tag the next game.

I don’t mind certain crews calling games the way they do *as long as they do it consistently.* “ok so that’s a foul tonight.”
Where it gets fricky is when they change how they call it as the game goes on.

if I'm not mistaken there is no such thing as "SEC officials". They aren't grouped like in college football

There are no SEC officials per se, but officials are generally assigned games regionally, so SEC games see the same handful of crews pretty consistently.
The SEC faired well in non-con play and tournaments in Vegas and Hawaii and the SEC/Big 12 challenge, so I don’t think it will be a huge concern. However, it could be something that gets a team or even two in the tournament. A lot went wrong for AU against Yale last year and there isn’t an excuse for AU losing that game, but in addition to AUs self inflicted wounds the officiating was some of the worst I’ve seen. It happens and could happen again, but I don’t think it will be a systemic thing caused by how SEC games are officiated in the regular season.
