So what's the deal with Misery & Kansas?

and why should we care about two mid-major schools who've never won squat in football?

The only things Misery excels at are meth, poop art and protests

At least Kansas used to be good in basketball

I'm actually excited to pull for Missouri

Is there any other school in the country that thinks as highly of itself without any reason for it as Kansas? It's like a the 7th ranked backup school for Dallas kids with zero academic prestige but they genuinely act like they're UVA just because their student population is woke.

They were pretty good at football under "My coach can eat your coach" Mangino for a while, too.

Maybe this game doesn't mean much to an old-school homer for SEC blue-blood teams, but up here it's simply a continuation of the civil war - with the same level of animosity and hate but fewer bullets.

It's a good game if you like to watch rivals go at it - like Army/Navy, Notre Dame/USC, Michigan/OSU, etc. Those games don't mean crap to SEC teams either (well, maybe they do for playoff standings now). But they're good games to watch for the drama.

If that's not good enough for you to watch the game, then go have a beer and watch something else.

Having lived in KC I can confirm this fact.

They literally went to war against each other during the American Civil War.

Oh I don’t know…

Maybe because they’ve played each other 121 times.

Maybe because Mizzou literally invented homecoming.

Maybe because they hate each other so bad they can’t even agree on the actual series record.

Maybe because, for decades, Mizzou coaches wouldn’t spend a dime in that god-forsaken state when they visited.

My grown sons are each VPs for successful companies. They refuse to do business in, or travel to or through that state.

You JOKE about your “rivals.”

We HATE ours.

I'm way more interested in watching the game on TV than I am about reading on this board what Greg Sankey and Lane Kiffin had to say about whatever it was that happened in a courthouse conference room yesterday.

Bunch of frigging weirdos are way more interested in dorks in khakis and old guys in suits than you are about what happens on the actual football field. It's like TMZ for dudes..

Kansas had a big upset when they had Aquib Talib. They also went 11-1 back in 2007 so they have had their moments.

I refuse to even drive through Kansas. If I have to go north, I won't travel I35 b3cause it goes through that state. I head over to Missouri and the hit 49 to KC Missouri. When I go to Colorado, I head to Amarillo then back highways or go through the New Mexico Raton Pass.

Way back in the day, an Army buddy set me up with his wife's sister. We all 4 were hanging out and things were going very well...until I saw the Jayhawks tattoo above her ankle. I couldn't bring myself to even rage frick her.

Also, frick the Chiefs. They are dead to me now.

Trust me, there are a LOT of people on the Kansas side of that issue that are pissed, too. Johnson and Wyandotte county property taxes are going to go up (higher than they already are) to pay for the "privilege" of having the Chiefs in our back yard.

I'd have been happier if they stayed in Independence and renovated the Truman Sports Complex instead.

Well... Mizzou did give this gift to the world...

So, I'm pretty cool with Mizzou now.

I don’t…. You shouldn’t…. Why were they on your mind to create this thread?

How do you like your chances against Kansas? They seem pretty confident with it being a home game.

Who asked you to care? Go watch WNBA or NASCAR or reruns of the Golden Girls or some shite like that.

Most of the rest of us like college football…especially intense rivalry games.

They feel confident because they’ve won all 8 games against us in Lawrence since 1989.

Mizzou has the upper hand in CoMo and neutral sites.

The series was on hiatus from 2012-2024.

I am skittish about the game. I think we’re a better team, but we are missing Hardy. Lots of new faces on defense Simmons is an unknown. It’s kU’s biggest game of the year. It’s a rivalry, so who knows?

No, we'd spool up a B-2 out of Whiteman.

And it would likely be escorted by a flight of F-35's to deal with any chickenhawks along the route to the IP.
